cord removal became important for me for 2 reasons, one, PAIN, i had chronic testicular pain and the damage went up the cords. 2, i also had oncology issues and the cords were infected on the right side with bad cells, which meant a possibility of spreading. For me, under my own suggestion and preference, they used tele-robotic laparoscopic tools with green laser "knife" to cut and cauterize things. This also resulted in any nerves severed being fried & cauterized permimately. The pain relief as instant, within weeks after the minor (in comparaison) surgical pain i put down my Dilaudid and took off my Fentanyl patch to never use them again.

Whoa! That must have been some pretty hefty pain to on a fentanyl patch. :O Glad to hear the pain is no more.

yes, debalitating soul killing pain. imagine beng kicked in the balls every 2 min. That was my ex-life.

Tanglog.. I had a bilateral orchiectomy performed and the Dr. did it through the lower scrotum. The result was that the cords adhered to the Inguinal Canal and caused pain every time anything put any pressure on the area. Things like jockey shorts, jeans, etc. Very little pressure was needed to induce pain. The cord also created a connection to the surgery site in the scrotum and caused pain any time the empty scrotum was drawn down. Consequently any exercise, even walking, would cause discomfort. I went through the exercise of determining whether it was "Phantom Pain" and it wasn't. The doc that did the original surgery, when shown what was happening, simply said he couldn't understand why there would be pain.

Later I contacted a surgeon who diagnosed me with bilateral hernia. This is not an uncommon problem with guys whose cord stubs have grown into the "canal". He suggested bilateral hernia surgery. I asked him to remove the cord stubs from the canal rather than work around them with the hernia surgery and he agreed to do so. It made the surgery easier for him. He did the "belly button" surgery using three half inch incisions in the abdomen and cut the cords out of the canal and tied them off in the abdomen as short as possible. Since then I have had no pain issues at all. In order to relieve the cord connections in the empty scrotum I finally convinced a surgeon to remove the scrotum. That relieved that nuisance as well and now I am pain free and very happy. If the cord does not adhere in the scrotum or canal then it is likely it has retracted into the abdomen by itsself. If so, forget about it. It will likely never be an issue.

I’m having cord problems too. The left cord retracted fine and is no problem. The right cord has adhered to the scrotum and is a real pain. In the summer the scrotum will stick to my leg and if it gets stuck to the left leg and I turn to the right it pulls the cord very hard and very painfully. I have talked to my doctor about this and he says surgery is the only way to correct it. I am looking forward to it. I’m going to try to have the entire scrotum removed and have some hemorrhoids removed at the same time. If you have a choice have your scrotum removed with the orch. It's nothing but a pain in the crotch.

I had some small knots that disappeared after a while and I can't find any remnants of the cords. Never a problem after a few months.

My nuts were removed through the scrotum 3.5 years ago. The right hand chord was left long in my scrotum and does cause discomfort from time to time. The left chord had a spermatic granuloma in it and so was cut considerably shorter at removal. This chord also gives me some trouble occasionally, but not as much. I am hoping to go to Thailand to have the empty bag removed, as I see no reason to keep it around at all and will get them to remove the chords at the same time. I wanted the scrotum removed at the same time as my nuts, but the doc advised against that. I wish I had been more adamant about wanting it gone at the same time.
