You may think that she "cannot afford" counselling, but people with mental problems quite often have financial problems too, and psychologists expect that. Many will be quite accommodating: I had a psychologist who carried me for years through some very dark times, for which I was and am grateful, and I hope you can find a similar good guy (or gal) in the profession.
that is an excellent idea. i will definably run it past her, but one big problem that she has is she lives in one place but goes to school 150miles away... so what does she do then? i do think i can find a psychologist where we live here, but where she goes to school is a big city where everyone cares only about themselves. i will talk to her about it and while she is home i will help her fine a psychologist here that will take good care of her for an affordable price.
does anyone know of a website that shows any/all of the doctors that provide affordable psychiatric care?

I didn't say that it's impossible to find an affordable counsellor. But they're rare. If you find a psychologist that will lower their rate below $40 (which is still too high for a lot of people with serious psych problems), you're quite lucky.
Drugs are the same way. A lot of psychotropic drugs -- particularly the ones whose side-effects aren't horrible -- are very expensive. Some people are lucky enough to get treated at a clinic where the GP or psychiatrist will give low-income patients the sampler packs that they receive from drug companies. That's how I got my drugs before British Columbia began the Fair Pharmacare program. But most people who can't afford a medication are just SOL; I was fortunate. It wouldn't be fair of me to suggest to someone that they can get $300/mo worth of norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors for free from their neighborhood clinic.

Mine charged $35 a session and was understanding if I did not have the cash right on me, and did give me pills from the salesmen samples.
Your mileage may vary, of course.
