I too am getting a good speed back using this link.
whats it all about? why did they create this alternative URL? was it purely because the EA.org is running slow, or is it other reasons?
My bme iam is also mega slow, this happened about the same time as EA so dose anyone know if bme also has an alternative url?

That 'alternative URL' has nothing to do with the EA, just to let people know.
If I had to guess, it's a proxy server, and if you get better speeds through that than direct to the EA, then the problem definitely is not at our end.
What proxy servers do is act as forwarders for surfing the net. You go to them, they get the page from the server and send it to you. Great for getting around any censoring or blocking that may be preventing you from accessing a website.
If you want, you can use it to access BME by going to publicentry.com (
http://publicentry.com/) and typing the BME address into the bar there, or the address of any other website you'd care to visit.

Wish I'd known about these when I was in my censoring hospital bed a few weeks back

It's faster because it's technically avoiding AOL's censorship filters. They don't prevent you from accessing sites they don't deem moral, but they can sure slow em up. I never understood why anyone would use AOL especially anyone outside the US.

Neither would I - think some of the comments are quite correct
