I've now been on Androcur 3 1/2 weeks and have almost no libido, minimal ejaculate with what there is being about the consistency and clarity of water. I am concerned about the effects on my liver, although I'm only using 100 mg/day. I've had liver disease in the past. Hepatitis C which was apparently cleared from my body by chemotherapy. I spoke to my personal physician Monday about doing the recommended blood work for Androcur users. He was very willing but the info that comes with the Androcur isn't the full physician document. One of the things they say to monitor is adrenal cortex function. My doc says this could mean any of several things. As my gender therapist works at a clinic with an MD specializing in sex hormones, I decided I'd see if the clinic will do the blood monitoring. All hormones, including Androcur, are extrenely potent biochemicals with wide-ranging effects. Best to be monitored by a physician if at all possible.

Thanks for you concern on the depression, Tclosetgirl. So far, I haven't been depressed at all and depression has been a nearly constant companion for most of my life. That was until I started an old-fashioned med, a monoamine oxidase inhibitor MAOI), with a new (patch) delivery system. I've never felt better in my life. MAOI's have mostly fallen out of favor because of dietary restrictions. The patch overcomes some of those. And MAOI's have often been found to help people who aren't helped by SSRI's, etc. It's been a miracle for me.
