I agree with micropenis, he was probably wanting to be castrated, but could not admit that to his family and others. Now, in all the excitement and intrigue around this band of viscious eunuchs castrating this man, the authorities will need to "make an example" (read "cast aside any concept of common sense, justice or truth") of a few of them. I really do believe that the "victim" in this case had in all likelyhood, wanted to be castrated.

Now...re the article. Am I to infer that his "castration" involved only his widdle ballsies? Hope so, but fear he lost his peepee, given what I've learned re Hijras.

And...one of Barry's buds (an uncastrated one, unlike Barry,) sent us links to some pics of a Thai(?) ladyboy who obviously lost his/her/it's balls. The effects of castration on the peepee are VERY apparent. If course, I'd prefer that the eunuch-in-pic was otherwise male in overall appearance, especially 'cause he/she/it doesn't do much for me as in my persona as a girl who also likes girls. Alas, that is not the case.

A similar case, that occurred in 1962, was posted on the Archive in 2004 as Troubled, Twilight World (http://www.eunuch.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=5994).

In a later follow-up of the case, which I need to track down again and post, it was determined that the 15 year-old had sought his own castration, but had then had second thoughts after it was done. Ultimately, all charges were dropped against those who had castrated him.

Most of the Indian hijra should actually be considered MtF, rather than eunuchs. Their goal is to become as close to female as possible. Full nullo is the best that most can manage to accomplish.

There are, of course, some hijra who want to become eunuchs, and not women, but they seem to be quite rare in the interviews and documentary films that I've seen. One young Indian sex researcher with whom I have discussed the subject can't remember meeting a single one who wasn't MtF. His main research topic is gay lifestyles and AIDS transmission in the far south of India.

I have asked another Indian sex researcher from northern India (who owes me a small favor) to check with sources in India that might shed some light on just this question.

FRICATIVE MUTATE

Well, I just got to thinking about what the plural for enunuch would actually be and so I consulted the wisdom of the oracles of wikipedia and something jumped out at me. It was the term "fricative mutate". There is this thing where the voiceless fricative mutate becomes the voiced fricative mutate when becoming a plural like wolf becoming wolves and hoof becoming hooves and so forth. So assuming that a eunuch is actually a fricative mutate then eunuch would become eunungues or something like that. But then there is the case of some nouns having multiple plurallities such as the word "person" which becomes either "persons" or else "people", so that a eunuch could actually swing a couple of different ways or more. Plus there is the case of the plural of Inuk becoming Inuit and a few others words like that making the plural of eunuch becoming "eunuit". But assuming that the word eunuch is actually a word of Greek derivation then the plural would be "eunuchata" but that part was all Greek to me. Then there is the case of the snob plurals where you simply add an i to the end of the word as if it were Latin even though it really isn't such as oblast becoming oblasti. This means that when the world comes around to worshipping the ground that a eunuch walks on then the plural would become "eunuchi" for those who are on the "in" crowd. As for myself I think that a simple "x" might work fine making the plural into "eunux". But then in the Bible there might be a tribe refered to as the "Eunuchites". As for the collective terms for the different nouns in the English language one did stand out to me and that was an "abomination" such as an abomination (group) of monks so that what we have here could be an "abomination of eunuchites". The problem with the term "scrotum" is that only two at a time can be in a scrotum but then if you were to use the more generic and more inclusive term "bag" then that would make sense for more than two members of the Eunuit people and the term would be a "bag of eunux" or maybe a more French sounding "gauche of eunungues" would be better. And now that school is over this is the end of your eunuchation for today. W-h-e-w.

Having read as much as I can about the Hijra, I feel a certain kinship. On the other hand I feel quite different. Perhaps something like a distant cousin. I don't envy them because of the discrimination they face, but at the same time it would be nice to be a part of their sisterhood.

About the boy getting castrated though. I don't know if it was voluntary or not, but since he does regret it, I have to regard it as a sad thing.

According to my dictionary the correct plural of eunuch is simply eunuchs, but I would be inclined to pluralize eunuch as eunucha, or perhaps even eunuchen.
