Re: Are we in the wrong bathroom or are you?
On the Japanese Bullet Trains, the men's urinals have a window in the corridor door so you can see if the urinal is occupied. I found that to be a bit disconcerting, to say the least....
times are slowly changing in Japan and they are becoming more and more Westernized. The formerly unisex bath houses are almost entirely segregated now. One resort hotel that I stayed at had outdoor hot baths. The women's was completely covered by an awning, but the men's outdoor bath including the occupants was clearly visible from an upstairs corridor window. The porn channel on most hotel TV's is heavily censored by pixilating the video. It seems that showing the man's penis is illegal!

Re: Are we in the wrong bathroom or are you?
Way back in 1973 when I was 21, a friend and I took my boat up the Inside Passage from Prince Rupert Canada to Juneau Alaska. We stayed in Ketchikan for a week. While there, we went to a laundromat and they had a shower facility. It was set up for the fishermen, much like truck stops have today for truckers. While my buddy and I were taking a shower, a nice looking middle aged woman entered the shower stall between the ones we were in. We didn't know she was there until she asked to borrow some shampoo. We stood next to each other, wearing towels, while sharing the mirror. Nobody saw too much skin, darn, and it wasn't a big deal until we walked out into the laundromat section. The woman that ran the place freaked out that we were back there at the same time. I think we are all too hung-up on gender. We tend to make too many things sexual when they don't have to be. I think it is sad that Japanese culture is changing to our screwed up ways. I think if we were all nudists we wouldn't have all these problems. It would stop everyone from being curious and I think that is where a lot of the problems lie. "Can't we all just get along".

homptydumpty (imported) wrote: Sun Apr 15, 2007 10:47 am This question was hurriedly asked to my by an elder gentlemen in the "mens" room the other day. Not the first time. Really i have been looked up and down on almost all of my trips to the bathroom. Well unless i use the womens room, then no one looks me in the eyes and goes about there thing. I do get a kick out of mens reaction in most cases, however, sometimes the attention is unwanted, when its negative mostly. Like last night in the "mens" room, some guys around my age wouldn't stop staring at me and asked me if i was a chick w/ a dick on my way out! it scared me a bit.
Why are women unfaded by me using the "womens" room yet men are so shocked?
any one else get the double take?
zYour situation presents a good arguement for multiuser unisex public facilities: restrooms, exercise facilities, locker rooms, and showers.

Re: Are we in the wrong bathroom or are you?
There will be women who may look twice and have something to say as well,to say why are'nt women phased is about as sexist and why do men act like etc..bottom line is anyone who is uncomfortable will make a fuss,,long as you are at one with yourself who cares
and not for nothing if you are going to present yourself as female ,,you should be using the ladies room

Re: Are we in the wrong bathroom or are you?
sexist.
The other day at work i was again aproached by a supervisor who told me that i would need to remove my earings because policy states that males are not permitted to wear them. This being the 3rd or 4th time asked to remove my earings, ( small gold hoops the size of my pinky nail) i had enuff and stood up for myself. I asked the sup. kindly if we could talk about the earings out of office and she complied. I pled my case to her, rather further explained my self. The words went something like this. " i am not a male, so there for when your refer to me as one i feel uncomfortable. When you single me out. i feel as if you create a hostile work environment." THe supervisor at once said we will need to bring this to the manager. so she led me to the office of the manager, who asked me if i was in transition. I was heated by that point, and informed her that i do not see myself as male or female, and there for didnt want o be treated asx one or the other. i said" wearing earings is a simble of who i am and i will not remove them, you your self are wearing earings, and why would it be right for others in the office to have the right to wear earngs simply because they are female?" The two above me where flushed at this point as well.
Getting to the point. she asked me if i would feel more comfortable being called she rather than he,. A bit off subject i thought. Then, last she asked me if i would like to use the womens bathroom rather than the mens.
I do not care if others call me he or she, i know i am niether. I do not care where i go pee, just as long as i have the place to do it.

Wow! That's quite a story, Homptydumpty. Can you still have a pee at work or did they fire you? That earring thing sounds pretty sexist. On the other hand playing the rebel will only get you in hot water - sometimes conformity in public is an easier road to travel.
I instantly thought of Dingbat and her/his feelings of being neither male nor female. You non-gendered folks really need an advocate.

They have the same 'rules' for piercings ,tattoo's,,colored hair
earings are neither male nor female anymore
and if you are "neither" then the point of wearing earings and stating that "i am not male" perhaps you might want to sit down with yourself and have a talk about who you are or want to be.
