Re: The prospect of all-female conception

This doesn't sound anything like cloning if I am reading this correctly. this is just a problem of a delivery system. Has any one ever heard the statement that female is the "perfect sex"? They say that because two females can, in theory", concieve a perfectly viable embryo, while two males cannot. In this case, all that would need to be done, again in theory, is remove the second donors genetic material from the nucleus of one of her eggs and then introduce it into the first donors eggs nucleus, along with the appropriate protiens and enzymes to allow the two halves of the helix to zip themselves together. This would result in a fertilized egg with both donors genetic material which would then be allowed to begin dividing till it has developed into an implantable embryo, much like an in vitro fertilization.
By the way, the reason that men will never be able to take advantage of a method anywhere similar to this is because sperm cells contain no mitochondria, which is passed down only thru the egg by the mother. Without going into detail, no mitochondria, no life.
