Status after week 2:

After two weeks with 150 mg first effects seem to appear: Libido is still there but not as prevailing as before. Still no problem to get erections. Climax with ejaculation seem to be normal. Still high interest in all erotic matters.

Unpleasant side effects of first week have gone but I seem to have less energy now.

Hopefully effects get a boost the next weeks. Maybe I'll try the Tamox combo.

Best wishes to You all

A.

One thing I noticed after I started on HRT (Testosterone) to combat my Hypogonadism was that I "had" be tired, hostile, moody and having some anxiety and other issues but I just wasn't able to pick up on them. They "seemed" normal to me. My wife was NOT happy with me in that state. When I had it pointed out to me I got some of it. When others pointed it out and asked me what was wrong I really started to get it and spoke to my Doctor. The Doc said I had many of the symptoms of mental depression but she (thank GOD) checked my hormone levels before putting me on Antidepressants. Its just my opinion but I wonder how many women goign thru menopause are filled with drugs that are just masking hormone issues? Anyway I encourage you to continue to take notes. Ask your wife and friends if they notice anything and for sure talk to your doctor. He or she can help you regardless of which way you end up dealing with this.

Good luck! Stay well.

Status after 3 weeks:

After 3 weeks of 150mg things haven't changed much. Still have high libido, no problem to achieve erections. Orgasm seems to be normal with typical ejaculation. The ejaculate seems to be a little bit clearer and watery.

Also my senses seem to be unchanged. No calmness, etc.

I'm not confinced that this treatment will bring me to castration status. :(

One side effect that might be worth to be mentioned. I lost 3 kg's the last weeks.

What do you think, can I expect a decisive change?

Greetings A.

Try adding some tamoxifen and see if that helps.

Last night I really had a bad experience. I woke up with strong heart beat, sweating and with depressions and fears I never had before. It took over two hours when I slept exhausted. In the morning the similar situation. The last two hours things got a little bit better. Still have high blood pressure (150/100) and feel really bad.

I quit Androcur immediately. If things do not change I have to see the doctor tomorrow. Is it wrong to stop at once? Do I have to fade out over the next two weeks with 2x25mg or so. I tend to stop now. Do not need that experience once again.

I am very thankful for all advise!! 🙋 🙋 🙋

Low testosterone can course depression, I know this because I've had it, the course of it is because I have issues with my gender.

Waking up during the night sweating, is also a result of low testosterone.

I've never experienced high blood pressure or anything like that, although I have had a panic attack recently, and Ive never had one of those before taking Androcur.

If you are worried about it maybe you should have a word with a doctor

If you go here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Androcur) It will give you some more information on the side effects and withdrawal effects

I hope this helps

What you have experienced is listed among the potential side-effects. Not all folks experience them. The night sweats are common to all approaches - they WILL happen, along with heat flushes. Depression is a frequent visitor to many (not all) folks undergoing castration. The fear / panic reaction is not one I hear about very often, but have heard of it. The high BP is also one I have heard of before, but again, not often. If the effects are not bearable for you, then by all means, quit the regimine. I don't believe it would be terribly adverse to halt abruptly, from what I can see on the patient and physician documents.

Most of the folks that are part of my "hypogonadism" support group would echo what your going through. I think its very difficult for a man to loose his hormonal "wiring" and not have serious issues. Men - We are tough things. We can get used to anything. But do we want to or need to? I would say no. Better you investigate safe

First of all, thank you for your advice. 🙏

I'm feeling better now. The described flashes and attacks did not return the last day. Also blood pressure recovered a little bit (140/90).

One thing that I realize today is a considerable lack of energy. I climb up the stairs and feel exhausted. The whole day I'm feeling floppy without drive. I slept 2 hours this afternoon!!

With regard to the termination of the Androcur regimen. I would love to stop at once but having been on 150mg for three weeks I think that the sudden withdrawal can be harmful as I could read in the above mentioned wikipedia link. I do not have the slightes idea what "adrenal insufficiency" as a result of abrupt withdrawal is, but I prefer not to experience it. So I reduce to 100mg for the next week and then reduce to 75mg and so on.

Ok, by the way my libido has gone down significantly the last 3 days, but as you can emagine currently my main focus is on the side effects and the harm they do to my body. In the end I hope to get out of this disaster without lasting damage to my body and I can promis that I have learned my lesson. I'm not gonna disturb my hormonal system once again by self medications. 🙅

Best wishes to you, A.

I'm glad your not going to self medicate anymore. This has always been a concern by me. What if your liver function goes kerbang or it makes your blood pressure drop to zilch or go too high etc etc etc. I think that for many of us Hormones do far more then regulate sex drive. Anyway glad to hear your doing better! Hang in there once your levels come back up you should feel fine.
