Hi Squish,
Welcome to the land of the balless. Like the others that have replied, I don't understand the excessive medication. I had my testicles and scrotum removed. I was put out for 2 hrs. and was in recovery for about 30 min. They could have done the operation with a local, but it was kind of nice to go to sleep, wake up and it was over. They wouldn't let me go home until I urinated, which wasn't happening very fast, so they used a catheter to drain me. I was then released to go home. My wife drove us home and 2 hrs. later I was sitting in my favorite chair. The doctor gave me vicodin for the pain, but I didn't really need them and I used an ice pack for a couple days to keep the swelling down. Since I had a drain inserted I had to go back and have that removed after 4 days and then again in a week for a checkup. They did the drain account I had my scrotum removed and needed some where for the fluids to go, but I think it also aided to speed my recovery. Like you, I did have a little discomfort on either side of my penis. Yes that is where the chords were cut. The discomfort only lasted a few days. I don't understand your hospital stay, it wasn't that big a thing. Everyone heals at different rates, so no one can give you an exact time when you will be 100%. I was back to work in 12 days and having sex with the wife in 8 weeks. As Bobby said, keeping your testosterone at normal levels are the key to keeping you sexually active and feeling normal. I, like many here, just wanted to be castrated. I had pain issues and dysphoric issues that were mostly solved. I did not wish to put myself through the ordeal of being hormone free. I see that you have done a lot of reading here so you should be well aware of whats involved. Personally I would recommend having HRT, but that is up to you. You didn't really say what your plans are. Good luck on a speedy recovery and keep us posted on how you are doing. We can always use more accounts for the newbies. And the rest of us are here to help if we can.
I'm pretty sure Squish had an inguinal orchiectomy. This is much better for curing orchitis pain and is to be much prefered if you have that issue. Scrotal Orchiectomy is much quicker to recover from but if your stuck with chronic pains it didn't do what was wanted.

Thanks for all the replys people,
I forgot to metion a couple of things,
1. There was a small incision down the center of my scrotum a bit less than a centermeter long removing tubes and all.
2. As I drove myself home the next day a hospital stay was insisted apon that and they wanted to keep me monitered as there was no drainage on the wound.
3. Yes I hope to remain sexualy active so taking HRT is important to me just havnt been prescribed any yet ( Early Days See Doc in 1 more week suspect then ).
Hope this clears up a few things as for a general or a local im glad i went for the General.
This is a scrotal orch, not inguinal. Quicker, easier, some chance of adhesions, but generally not a big deal surgically.

Congrats on being rid of your testicular pain. You seem to be adjusting well to the absence of nads.
I was similarly motivated to be rid of at least one of my testicles ~7 years ago (while both were removed, it turns out I wasn't likely experiencing pain in the other because it was already dead - just didn't know it). I was back at work 2 days later. I've always been fond of being nude and wonder from time to time what others think of the obvious lack of orbs in my crotch, but hardly anyone seems to notice. I never feel I've been cheated of anything because I'm able to compare how comfortable I feel in the crotch with what preceded the orchiectomy procedure.

Just a quick update on my progress for anyone intersted......
Its been almost 4 weeks now since tho OP and i have to say i feel great...
The cut on my scrotom is gone swelling almost compleatly subsided and most importantly the pain ive lived with for so long is gone ( YaY YaY ..!!!!!!!! ).
As for things like my sex drive and sexual performance it couldnt be better as this is one aspect i was a little worried about..
For all those people out there who suffer from acute testical pain and wounder if testical removal is a relevant aproach to dealing with this condition I say think long and hard about it this is a permanant solution and i feel that I have been Lucky that this has worked out so well for me.
There where some issues that made me sit back and think.
1. That my sexual performance could be affected
2 That the way I feel about myself could change for the worse
3 That taking HRT (Testosterone replacement ) might not work for me
4 That my wife might be less than supportive about the changes to my body
Thankfully none of these have been an isue as yet and hopefully never will.
I hope that these posts and future posts will help anyone that has found themselves in my postion.
