You have got to be kidding, I know someone who has a bag and he and I can tell you its not much fun. It only takes about 2 hours to get ready to go someplace but plan to be back in about 4 hours. Forget long trips, you just wont be able to handle the trip. This is a last resort operation and you think you want this? your nuts.

I agree. If you have ever been around someone with a colostomy and know the struggles they endure trying to have as normal a life as possible you would forget this idea. This thread might be insulting to any member that has a colostomy.

Bear in mind that he asked if anyone ever thought about this notion. He did not express a desire for it. Anyone insulted by this is simply not reading what is written. No one makes light of the plight of anyone who has to deal with any kind of ostomy. IT IS DISTINCTLY A DIFFICULT THING TO ENDURE AND COPE WITH. However, many would take the same condemnatory position about anyone seeking castration or penectomy. Read a little bit about BIID (Body Integrity Identity Disorder - I have been a lot lately - it is highly relevant here), and extend an element of understanding to all such inquiries. Just because one inquires does not mean they intend to carry an action to fruition.

Well said. Wise observations. I think this is a useful discussion. I am reading even if I had not until now posted. I read many threads without posting.

...I lived next door to a Spinster who smelled like a colostomy bag once...
...we just called her "the bag"...
...Of course, you can just fall with a broomhandle or plunger handle up your ass and lacerate your rectum and you will get a colstomy bag to wear on your colostomy that you will have until it heals...usually 6 mos to a year, according to how badly your recum is damaged...
Sheese!!! :shakemitk

This was a surprising topic on EA for me. As a much younger person I underwent a colostomy operation over 20+ years ago. It was a case of life or death, literally. I'm glad I made the choice I did.
Insofar as storing stuff in the cavity (assuming that an anus was left intact during the procedure), I would be highly skeptical.
I guess now you guys know a lot more about me than I had originally considered divulging. I'm gay (although not active in any sexual sense at all), diabetic, hypertensive, a colostomate, and a castrated male. Geez, I wonder how many more labels I can put on myself? Perhaps 'nice guy' too?

Nice guy for you would be a good label.

OH, C'Mon! Wouldn't you at least want to carry a tube of chap-stick up the old poop chute just to win free drinks at the local bar? A mounds bar? Tootsie Rolls? Loose Change? Last years tax returns? SOMETHING!
Hey, I know! How about a Glass Eye!? Huh? That's gotta be worth the price of admission!

Nice sounds appropriate. Funny how the labels replace us.
