You wore a banana clip or one of those slap on wrist bands at some point during your youth.

Those wrist bands were dangerous! lol... The metal inside would fall out and those fuckers would do some serious maiming if properly provoked.

You can remember watching Full House and Saved by the Bell for endless hours!!!!!!

I am now oh-so-embarrassed at how much I used to love those shows.

I actually couldn't find any spandex shorts to fit my skinny ass. I had one purple pair that looked kind of ridiculous on me, they really didn't fit too snug-like.

The neon colored clothing, parachute pants, untied leather high top sneakers. Tight jeans, anything made by "Ocean Pacific" clothing, or the "Miami Vice" look. I confess to all of them - except that I couldn't grow a five o'clock shadow until I was 18.

Skating rinks - when skates had 4 wheels, and not in-line.

Ipods? No. Cassette players that latched to your waistband and weighed a couple of pounds, and if they had auto-reverse, you were just uptown!

Disco had just been declared dead. Actually, it was wallowing in its death thralls. The 80's hair bands were rapidly replacing it. Things were being done with electric guitars that we never thought possible.

This also spawned a whole new genre of fashion debacle - the "hair band" look - jeans, tight, tucked into pointy-toed leather boots, or worse yet, leather pants. Think - Loverboy. Can you name the lead singer?

We believed that orange 1969 Dodge Chargers could really fly...and land and keep on going.

Monster 4wd trucks. Remember Bigfoot and Bearfoot? Crushing cars and monster truck rally on TV.

TAB was joined by a raft of other diet sodas. (Thank God!)

Tanqloq's pics remind me of all the other funky haircuts, when kids seemed to trying to "out-weird" one another.

Not long after, the adults' war on video games began. They were making kids skip school to go to arcades, you know.

VHS tapes in rental stores! You could see your favorite movie just about any time. Gone were the days of the President ruining TV if he was on.

We had Ronald Reagan. Oh...joy...

Nancy Reagan said, "Just say NO!"

1-Hour photo arrived. Kodak launched the "Create-a-print" station which used negatives and never gave you what you saw on the screen. 35mm film was all the rage; the point-and-shoot camera became a hot seller. Then came the "throw-away" cameras.

The bigger cameras, SLR's (interchangeable lenses) built in this new thing call autofocus.

I am so glad no one took any pictures of me during that time!

Would you believe I didn't get most of the references. They were all after my time. Personally I don't think there weas anytrhing wrong with Bing Crosby, or Johnny Ray or Frankie Laine. And Glenn Miller was rather good too. And those newer guys like Sinatra, Como and Dean Martin weren't bad either. Wonder what happened to 'em.

Wow!!

I felt so lost while reading that!! I think I got around a dozen references. I saw "Saved By the Bell" and "Full House" in reruns and I used my mother's portable cassette player since tapes could be bought for next to nothing. I once saw a photo of Michael Jackson and he looked so much better before becoming a middle-aged noseless caucasion. He was actually pretty hot. I always liked the smurfs though. I used to watch them on re-runs as we were allowed an hour of TV per week until I was 10. For many years "The Smurfs" were my choice. Vanity Smurf was my favorite. (By the way, Smurfette isn't a slut, she's the fag-hag. Otherwise she'd be pregnant. Of course, another explanation might have something to do with the lack of bulges in the smurf's pants....). I guess that living in the middle of the wilderness growing up and being born in 1985 explains why I was so lost in this post. It was quite amusing though imagining Darth Vader in florescent clothing!!!

I dont think I have ever read a thread this long and had not a clue what you guys are talking about. I was a 50's 60's kid, my kids were 90's, so not knowing what happened in the 80's, did I miss something important?
