Re: Weight gain post castration
I'm sorry to go slightly off message for a second but I was contemplating some time after I wrote my earlier thread above tugon and I had to smile to myself because I thought as well meaning as I intended it,I thought a lot of people would think my ideas- especially regarding no alcohol -made it sound as though I was suggesting the lifestyle of a monk...(which wasn't my real intention)....but then another thought crossed my mind and that is this one - do we have monks as regular visitors or members amongst us?? I'm not sure whether the various religious orders permit access to PCs as they may see them as a huge invasion of the outside world within their orders. On the other hand, if monks use cyberspace I could easily imagine many find agreement and comfort from the Eunuch Archive. It is an interesting question and I really DO apologise for my thought processes taking this off subject, but these were just small thoughts.I think I'd find it quite comforting to know that monks do follow the discussions and threads here. I hope my diversion here is a short one and I'll be excused for it.

Thanks all for your advice. Losing weight will require changing of habits and more physical activity. I have yet to find the magical pill that removes fat.
Sac_mec, I enjoyed your diversion and a monk's lifestyle would be ideal for losing weight. Lots of working the fields and small vegetarian meals. Vows of poverty so no trips to fast food or pizza delivery. When I was first castrated my thoughts at the time were that my life would be monastic. Living alone with no need for human touch and minimal involvement with the outside world. Interesting point about our similarities to monks.

I'm doing about 10,000 km annually on the bike and have finally accepted that means new bike tires about twice a year. I've reduced my car driving to about 5,000 km annually, and those tires are now 8 years old and still have lots o' tread left.
I do have body fat - about 11%. I have lots o' running friends with as little as 8%, and I'm afraid they're my model and why I'm not entirely happy with my bod.
Based on this and some of your other postings, I have a vision of a very athletic and ballsy dude, who just happens (for medical reasons) not to have balls (play on words here intended, for fun). 11% body fat. Wow! All that bike riding. Sounds like you should live to about 150.
I have a bike, but have to avoid it for reasons related to pain, but hopefully all that will change in the near future with the pending removal of ball #2. I doubt I will get down to 11%, but I would be happy with double that. In other words, I kinda think of you as a role model. If only I could also loose about 40 years, but that is another story....
Thanks for your postings, and the inspiration that comes from them.

Well, Krister and Tugon thank you for your thoughts and input. It is very curious how as life develops you can gain more insight. Maybe Krister your tremendous duties here, which are vocational are not unlike certain apects of the Sisterhood.
It is curious how a thought process can lead one to see the bonds and similarities between devout and devoted people who also choose to be chaste
and asexual and many of us. We have found the same goal. Too often the world wants to segregate and separate people and 'put a label on us'. It is very refreshing when we can break through all that and share common ground with those whose background is both similiar and also 'opposed', or opposite to some of our other views. It was an interesting thought you had Tugon and I understand where it came from. It is curious because I would describe my world view as being secular and yet somewhere within me when I wrote that it would be comforting to know that monks (and sisters) might be amongst us, I really meant that. Of course the link between the Church and Eunuchs has deep historical roots but wouldn't it be refreshing to know that as individuals some monks are with us. Tugon is right, a portion of our members share a common outlook in many ways and this world ought to be about love and building bridges between folk. I realise of course that there are zealots who
dislike us, but they can be found in most communities. Anyway having followed the thread so far and returning to 'weight gain post castration' I wish
everyone good success, with or without alcohol
Christina, can I close by giving you a special 'light' hug? No hurtful overdone embrace; they are so awful for those of us with Spine pain. So when you hug a friend, do it gently at first and they could be a lot happier.

Re: Weight gain post castration
I started a chemical castration drug and quit smoking about the same time. Now I could blame the weight gain to the castration but in truth, food has never tasted so good. The thought of going on some of the diets mention here is absolutely freighting. I have only gained about 50 lbs and most of that around the middle.
I do have myself on a diet, I stay away from fried foods, shell fish I don't drink but supplement it with chocolate shakes, Ice Cream, cookies, pies, cakes. One must plan for the sweet tooth. Fresh fruit is a treat, cant wait for cherry season that up here only lasts about 2 weeks.
I guess I should watch my diet a little closer but food tastes so good. As for working out, I have been limited here of late because of lower back problems. It is not due to my extra Lbs.
I guess what I need is a bike, but I can't afford a Harley.

From the movie "Scenes from the Class Struggle in Beverly Hills" - the doctor says, "I recommend junk food until you're ready to vomit, followed by a bracing salt water enema." Of course, he did have a number of deaths at his clinic, too.
