I think Colin said it best, freedom of speech is just an idea - and nothing more. Something to be aimed for, but with practical limitations.
Sorry for being such a jerk recently everyone, and I wanted to extend apologies especially to Brian and Chris - I certainly didn't mean to upset either of you and wonder if it was really my fault that this situation arose. The best I can promise is to never get up on my high horse again.
I expressed a view, but there was probably a better way I could have gone about it. And saying things that turn members on each other was definitely the wrong way

Now, one thing to consider - if you replied to a spam post or troll post, and the whole POST/THREAD got whacked, then yes, your post is gone too. That COULD have happened. Talula blew here like the plague some days ago, ripping out troll posts that happened when I was at work. When the whole spam/troll thread goes, everything goes.
I did send an email to all the Staff - so far, no one recall deleting any specific posts lately.
Political posts are likely never to be deleted. Those forums "down there" are pretty much a "take your chances" slot to keep that kind of stuff out of the rest of the Boards.
We're also still finding things that had been tweaked in VBulletin and reset in the main control panel (a nasty, scary place to be!) that were reset with the reload of the database. So yes, there still might be some bugs left to iron out.
The good news is we're averaging about 10 new registers a day.
Rather a lively discussion. In the past six days I have deleted 643 posts, erased 173 memberships, and didn't even get laid once. Damn.
Well at least the part about not getting laid is true....
Short of Atomic flames, threats, warfare, illegality, etc., I will NEVER delete a post from the political board or for that matter the cellar. Generally if someone merits that kind of action in those two boards, they are probably pretty close to other action, such as a ban. I always try tag a reason on an edit, send a pm, email, or add another post. Same goes in the other forums.
As others have pointed out, if a troll starts a thread, and the initial post is deleted, all subsequent posts in that thread will also be deleted automatically.
I have also been getting my usual rash of emails about the classifieds. There is one extremely important thing to remember about them. THEY ARE FUCKED UP. Posts show up under other folks names, wrong categories, sometimes dont show at all, some just float into the ether. There are no current plans to do anything about it. On the other hand, there is stuff posted in there that I would never allow on the boards. But do exercise some degree of discretion, i.e., the guy who posted a bloody stump surrounded by massive hematomae, etc..... GONE.
With regard to the recent carping about avatars:
While we do not post any general policies, we do adhere to some general guidelines. We permit only avatars of limited size - no profile pics, and no pics in posts or signatures. All avatar pics should display a moderate sense of taste, and where graphic must be on topic - specifically castration and / or penectomy. Even on topic, we do expect some discretion and taste (I.e., no bloody or tortured stumps or bags, etc.). On topic pics can be real or modified. There are some avatars posted that have been around for a long time, are essentially harmless, and are "grandfathered" and allowed to remain, but even still are not terribly tasteless.
In general, our site is about castration, first and foremost, and secondarily penectomy. It is not about genital torture, slavery, cbt, etc., etc. Those kinds of topics are often a part of the real and fantasy lives of many of our members / readers, but they are not our preferred theme topics. They are frequently grist for stories in the FICTION archive (where we also do not allow pics) and can stay there. If such topics are part of discussions in the forums we ask that it be relevant to our content. Posts of a personal nature should be kept in the personals, not on the forums

I wish it were true that I was merely asking a general question rather than making a passive-aggressive complaint. And now my horrible pun will have so much more attention drawn to it! I suppose it would have been considered a "flame" anyway (I want a t-shirt that says "It takes a troll to know one!"). I know your posts weren't personal -- you simply don't like the idea of eunuchs being portrayed in a poor light. That's a good thing, and I share your sentiment. However, I must stress that voluntary eunuchs/pre-eunuchs are like any other minority -- we can't be pigeonholed or pinned down to any sterotype; some of us ARE weirdos/freaks (probably most of us). Yeah, Blassengame should have thown a boring eunuch or two in there. But if someone reads the article and gets the impression that all eunuchs have alter egos or that all eunuchs and potential eunuchs are pedophiles, then that reader is an idiot.
