Bagoas, have you heard the original 78-rpm recordings of Moreschi, then? BTW, he was not in his 60s when recorded, but only 44 and 46. Also, the voices of castrati lasted (and still last, in my own experience!) much better with age than those of women, whose vocal quality generally deteriorates after menopause unless they take estrogens as HRT. Besides the Pearl/Opal CD 9823 of him, there is the more resent Truesound CD now available of him, in which the "noise" suppression in the transfer process was done differently.
