I wonder if today there are still harems being attended by eunuchs. Perhaps discretely in some obscure sheikdom there is a bed chamber attendant fanning and pampering a large group of locked up females.

Yeah, it is pretty reliably documented that there are lots still in Arab countries.

So strange! Most people have all of these misconceptions and fantasies concerning the personality and behavior of eunuchs. In my fifties, I still pass myself as a young college male since I cannot look like an older man. Sometimes I go ahead and pass as a female. From what I gather I have always had a "deficiency" of testosterone although I never really understood what was going on. All I knew was that people were always treating me as a younger person. I've never had a use for shaving cream either although if I went a year without shaving I would have centimeter long whiskers, many of them black like my hair. Also many other indications were there. What I had were undersized and I finally did have to have them lopped off. I suppose the one thing about me was that I never hardly dated but most of my friends have been women and I was at ease among them..

So here I am a eunuch but the one person who has never at all been docile and submissive and even going so far as having a "vibrant" personality was and is me.

Many women have vibrant and independent personalities but nobody questions if they are women so why should it be different for eunuchs? Oh-h-h-h. Stereotypes!

I had a long chat with a female American soldier who was stationed in Kuwait for 18 months. She told me that she met and got to know a genuine eunuch will there. The wealthiest men in Kuwait still keep many as servants.

Lower class families will occasionally turn over a fourth or fifth son to be castrated in exchange for favors and money. The first few male children are highly prized, but #5 or #6 can be spared.

Eunuchs are still used to guard and maintain very important holy sites such as tombs and important mosques throughout Islam.

The eunuch said he was castrated at 12 years old as he went into service of one of the wealthy families there. A western trained M.D. castrated him and he was kept as a servant. He was educated in Kuwait and serves as an accountant for his master. Some eunuchs are even used for sex.

He was not given any choice and has absolutely no rights under Islamic law. Even women have some rights, but not eunuchs.

I never heard this from anyone else so take it for what it’s worth.
