On that, I TOTALLY agree with you! All the evidence I've seen says that if someone waits until past 'parenting age' to get fixed then the potential lifespan increase isn't big enough to matter.... Even if a guy hopped on a plane to Mexico / Thailand for 'on demand' surgery as an 18th birthday celebration the increase is probably not worth it.

I'd even go so far as to say that except in a few cases (which we've seen here), such as wanting to reduce family risk of prostate cancer, there don't seem to be ANY identifiable physical health benefits great enough to justify removing healthy / normal testicles.... Lots of other reasons, good, bad, or otherwise to have it done, but I don't think physical health makes it onto the list....

(Obviously if there are medical conditions like pain, cancer, damage, etc. then it becomes a different discussion and health is relevant, but I'm not talking about those cases)

I've read some scientific article about testosterone and aging. And as I remember testosterone, via some interesting mechanism, reduces amount of telomeres at the top of each DNA molecule. Either by faster replacement of cell, or something else. Anyway, when there is no telomeres left, DNA will be damaged by the next DNA copy process. That might lead to dysfunction of organ or cancer developement.

The earlier you are castrated, the longer you will live.
