I then moved onto Depo Provera. Truly, it was amazing. Aside from a little stiffness in my butt from injecting, there was no ill side effects and in 3-4 weeks I was very much feeling the effects. Libido vanished, I cried at random things, I was more sensitive, and I just felt like a completely different person. To my surprise, despite being on it only 3-4 months, it took my body nearly a year to fully recover and my libido still isn't 100% what it used to be 5 years removed from it.

As far as accessibility and effectiveness, I definitely would recommend the Depo Provera.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's quite a scary recovery time in many ways, though a 4 month trial is as yet 2 or 3 steps away, by then I would hopefully be more sure of myself. Admittedly i'm not keen at all on shots, at least for my first try, but will bear this in mind going forward that it may yield a better result, and discuss with a doc (assuming it's I manage to get one and it's prescribable here).

I'm just starting a trial for similar reasons. My consultant here in the UK has started me on 25mg of Siterone daily, which he's said we can increase to 50mg if the 25mg does does not give results. Literally day one today so we'll see what this trial brings!

I Wanted to just ask a few things - firstly I've done a lot of reading trying to discern the differences between the various meds on offer. I realise they may work in different ways, but the end result seems to be largely very similar. I was hoping people could give any breakdown of why I should look at one medication over another particularly e.g. why would Androcur suit better than e.g. bicalutamide.

Otherwise I had thought to start with 100mg per day of Androcur from inhousepharmacy delivering to Switzerland. The alternative would be to start on a higher dose for a week to shut things down and and reduce relatively quickly (which seems to work well for some people too).

Any advice will be gratefully received.

Over 10 years ago, I went on a journey like yours, testing out eunuch life while having the option to reverse. (You are welcome to search my prior user ID here on EA: hkeunuch. Under that ID, I documented my journey here on EA. My objectives were similar to yours, shrinkage, less body hair and lower libido.

Here is a summary of what I learned. I chose Androcur because, (1) it is supposed to work faster, (2) I don't like injections like depo, (3) I can stop any day, and its effects will slowly subside. Injecting Depo would have a much longer half life.

I have my liver and kidney functions checked quarterly as I was and still am taking a lot of other medications, from blood pressure to cholesterol, and my cardiologist monitored me without knowing I was self medicating with Androcur.

I found that even with a dangerously high dosage (as high as 250 mg/day), my libido did not go away completely. However, I learned from EA that I could add Tamoxifen to help make sure I don't end up with feminization. When I did take both meds together, my libido completely disappeared, and I was having dry orgasms.

Best of all, taking the two together, I was able to sustain at a significantly lower doses. My sustaining dose was 25 mg/day for Androcur, and 10 mg/day for Tamoxifen.

I did experience side effects, especially fatigue and weight gain, but these are common side effects of low testosterone, and probably not dependent on which anti-androgen you take.

I read that most people seem to post here that 6 months of continuous use is probably around the time when irreversibility starts. That is pretty much what I experienced.

For quite some time, my libido is so low that I not only stopped thinking about sex, but I also stopped thinking about castration. I stopped posting on EA for so long that my hkeunuch account got locked.

I liked how I felt as a chemical eunuch. But instead of going under the knife, I just kept on taking this sustaining dose of Androcur + Tamixifen for a few more years (total 4 years). In 2009, I stopped and definitely, I am chemically castrated.

I've just had my first experiment with Siterone (Siproterone Acetate). I followed the dose suggested by the specialist I saw last year and went with 25mg daily. I found that within a few days my libido had dropped right off - very pleasing! I only took the drug for 10 days this first time. Side effects that I noticed were very mild hot flushes and otherwise normal. I realise that 10 days on a low dose is not going to take my T levels right down but the initial experience was overall positive. Having stopped taking the Siterone it took another two weeks for my libido to rebound. I plan to go with the drug for a month minimum next time, but I'm holding off until new year as we're moving house over the next few months - not a good time to risk unbalancing things!

Thanks for that update, good to know it worked well and quickly on what sounds like a low dosage. I've been keeping a low profile the last month, but as ever the need has once again re-established itself. I almost blurted it out to a friend a few days ago (I've only told one friend before) and have realised that the more need I have to talk and be open on it, I'm therefore further legitimising it to myself. Unfortunately largely have missed this Nov window that would have been ideal.
