Some of these problems can be avoided and solved easily by for example converting to PDF, but what I meant was exactly that. Available not only as just downloadable but also as usable.

True, I encountered some difficulties when the need arose when editing a document.
As a rule, I needed additional software ...

Actually - they are sorta necessary evil - probably the only guaranteed way to transfer text in exactly the same way you intended it (if you format it right). As format is documented - the readers are available on basically all platforms (and not all of them are tied to Adobe

). Creating is also not tied to Adobe (but that depends on your platform too).

I installed the full "Libre Office" package on Windows 11 of my new laptop.
