Robot assisted Radical prostatectomy, My findings a month in

I was operated on in March 2020 with the Da Vinci robot. Since then I continue with blood tests every three months. At the moment everything is going well (PSA=0.04). Physical recovery went well but erectile dysfunction is still ongoing. They say to be patient but....

This sounds very similar to my procedure.

I am not all that worried about the ED side of things as I'm single and in my 60s now and erectile function was not good before the procedure.

However for a lot of folks this could be a big issue depending on their relationship status.

There are pills jabs and implants that can help but the only one I may go for is the Cialis as this also helps with my testosterone therapy, I currently take 5mg a day but if I can get the state to pay for this then "Happy days"

With me before the procedure I could get erect but had difficulty maintaining it, quite a common problem for men of my age, blood pressure being on the high end of normal didn't help.

The procedure itself can damag

e nerves that control blood flow to the penis

and some nerves may be cut during removal depending on their locality to the cancer.

I have not even had a semi erection since the procedure (Done on 31 December) so it looks like some damage was done.

This risk is made pretty clear from the outset and most men have this problem to varying extents,

Time for any signs of recovery measured in months and years and some folks never regain functionality.

Thanks for the info. I know the chances of ed from the procedure are pretty high, and depends on what they find out have to do once in there. I have read lots of accounts from men who already had a history of ed before the procedure.

Just a quick update 7 months post-op.

All good so far as clearing up the cancer still have undetectable PSA.

Bladder leak is not really an issue and I can now do Dead Lifts in the gym without anything major happening. I do tend to fold up a kitchen towel and place it to catch the occasional drip but quite often now this is not needed.

Erectile Dysfunction, this is still an issue (But a Known side effect).

Half of the nerves that controlled my erections had to be cut away due to proximity and the remainder had to be teased away from the prostate capsule.

I have still not had anything like an erection in the past 7 months. I can get a semi but this is involuntary and quickly subsides as soon as I start moving around. I am currently taking 100mg of viagra twice weekly to help, but even with viagra nothing much seems to happen.

So to sum up all good here, the ED I can live with as I can still orgasm with a limp dick and as its a dry one I tend to masturbate more often now.
