Other side of the ditch, but came out to my lesbian GP, got referred to a private urologist, got referred to a public psychiatrist for an assessment (took 11 months!), had my surgery in a public hospital (because local private is Catholic). All up took about 21 months, completed at age 48.

Eunuchs can be described as a nonbinary transgender identity. Key gatekeepers are finding an LGBT-friendly GP and a urologist willing to provide or refer for trans surgery. Many providers are willing to treat nonbinary trans people. There are plenty of conservative or religious surgeons who will not, but colleagues know how to work around them.

I also spent a couple of years in therapy which helped me with many issues. If you can find a gender therapist or psychologist, they can help you build a documentation trail so that your surgeons can meet their duty of care.

Hi there boblast49,

I have to say I take my hat off to you, and your compatriots who very literally took matters into their own hands. It seem either squeamishness or knowledge of mortality becomes stronger with age, and I'm reluctant to follow such a path myself at the present. I'm very much leaning towards a chemical trial though.

Billy.

I decided to go the Bangkok route, much easier.:)

Yes, I've given some thought to a "medi-holiday", but for the time being that's looking very unlikely.

cutnbulls2ox (imported) wrote: Thu Aug 26, 2021 8:15 am Welcome BillyBlogs, lots of Aussie men are interested in castration. Your country has many men who were voluntarily gelded from their numbers online.

I'll have to get myself more familiar with how the personals and that works. I tend to be a bit of a loner, so that end of the web is a bit mysterious to me.
cutnbulls2ox (imported) wrote: Thu Aug 26, 2021 8:15 am All that livestock you raise there gets lots of males interested in human castration.

Now that is an interesting hypothesis. But then again, what else should one expect from a culture where cow-pokes biting the nuts off livestock is considered normal.
cutnbulls2ox (imported) wrote: Thu Aug 26, 2021 8:15 am You should find fellow Aussies on here. And most Aussie men are exceptionally friendly, good natured, and great to be around. You have a great country with super attractive men.

Thanks for the compliment, on behalf of my countrymen.

Hi,

I'm taking first tentative steps next week. Nothing too serious at this time, just a bit of sounding out of my GP. In the end I might need to travel into Sydney to find medical support there. I won't cast nasturtiums at this time though, so far my GP as been quite good in a more general sort of way.

By the way, apart from those weird conical mountains, your home country is rather beautiful. Funny, I live on the weathered stumps of mountains that once were the size of the Himalayas. You live on or near some that have the ambition to get that big.

I live in the South Island, and our stunning mountains make more sense when you realise that the islands of New Zealand are the peaks of the submerged continent of Zealandia:

Well, as you say, makes a lot of sense. The "weird" bit is about the notion that here, the valley passes have long ago weathered away, or maybe it's more correct to say the peaks that defined the valley passes have long ago weathered away. In any case, to cross the remains of the Great Dividing Range, one must climb up and go over, rather than try to follow a valley through.

I spent about a month on your lovely South Island. It was one of those rapidly moving events though, and everything is blurred together in my memory now. I do remember standing on the east coast though, and thinking about how incredibly far away South America was. I found that once the suspicion and cynicism that comes from living in a larger city is suppressed, the friendliness of the locals was refreshing, and the place felt good to be in. Had the best fun flying south in a light plane. The pilot made what could have easily been a tiresome cramped event into a great time with lots of info and banter.

Hopefully people can travel again next year and the madness will have died down. Bangkok was great in my opinion
