Get Out While You Still Can!
Hospitals are not safe.
Too many die in hospitals.
Too often from exotic, untreatable microbes.

Flowers aren't a good idea. Allergies, you know. But I am sure the thought is appreciated.

Thank you all! I appreciate the good wishes. The back surgery was 4.5 hours and mostly went well. There was something a bit later that required the surgeon to re-enter my back and fix. With this set there are now 19 surgery scars on my loving side.
The procedure, as best I understand it, involved partially removing a section of vertebrae, and the disc between L4 & L5 (way lower back). Apparently they screwed the fractured vertebrae together. Then they fused L4 and L5 together. But most of the low-back pain is gone. Yay!
We did discover a wrinkle in my well-being, though. The various And strong narcotics they were giving me apparently made me get somewhat boisterous and challenging, without my realization. Apparently it took about 7-8 people to subdue me, and sedate me. Someone filmed it all and later showed me. It left me incredulous -- that is just not my nature.
After six days in the hospital (where there was a shooting last night), my brother picked me up and took me home. RELIEF !!!. About an hour later my catheter bag ruptured a seal, and I ended up with urine all over me and the kitchen and bathroom floors. When I finished replacing the urine bag and mopping several floors, etc. I was exhausted, and spent the next two hours napping, but kept waking up.
I seem to be relatively erect with out great pain, and finally letting the day catch up and knock me out.

Glad to hear you are back home. Sorry to hear that there were some unexpected events with your recovery, drugs, and bag.
I haven't had to spend a night in the hospital (yet) but my dad made it pretty clear last year that the food wasn't great and it was hard to sleep with regular visits from doctors and nurses to make sure he was OK. I am sure you will enjoy recovery in your own bed better than at the hospital.
Be careful if you use the internet while on narcotics. I have had some friends post strange stuff while recovering from shoulder/hip/whatever procedure. Those things can make a person say things that aren't in their character.
