It's time for the curmudgeon to creep from the woodwork:
The only good cat, is a dead cat...
taxidermically stuffed, too
But Dave, it takes nine times!!

And that isn't practical...
I have a relative with 8 house cats as pets and visiting is like entering a large cat pad and not a human dwelling.
And if I talk on the phone with them, it's "I gotta go and feed the cat" or "change the litter box" or something else cat related -- shedding, fur balls (not to be confused with dust bunnies) and all that.
So to prevent a kitten from showing up at my door, I snarl and say -- the only good cat is a dead cat -- and that keeps the kitty and cat house miles away
added: I'm thinking about a short story with "snipping" in it... It's in the thinking stage...

"I gotta go and feed the cat" - well, here it is:

As the one who have lived with a cat - it is on principle - "no, your attention is not focused on meeee-ow! so I will disturb you, until it is".
It does not matter if the cat is fed... it is "the foood is nooot enough" (think one of the James Bond themes). (I have personally witnessed a small female cat eating enough to turn her into a ball shaped something and really spoil her cornering skills - no, the cat was not mine).

...
I don't mind feeding pets but that's a big fish...
And worse, it's that litter box that I refuse to cope with after feeding the cat...
{wink, wink}
