I had a simple orchiectomy. I had problems with a hematoma on the end of one tube. It took almost a year to go away. Today you can’t even find it.

I had orchi via scrotum this past March. it has not stopped hurting since then. I'm kind of relieved to see that this is normal. not fun but at least not unexpected.

though I consider my urologist surgeon to have saved my life by agreeing to do the surgery and I will be forever grateful, he also was a bit dismissive about further surgery and about the lingering pain. this aspect was not explained and all he said was to go to a pain management doctor. to me this just means playing with endless pain meds. not interested in that. but what to do about the pain?

I've heard in the past that massaging a scar helps to shrink it and minimize it. I've begun doing this at the surgery site. there is no chance that I'll get stimulated, thank god, and no apparent chance of an erection... thank god again, so I can do this persistently. so far I have a small hint that things are improving. if anyone is curious to know if this will work, let me know and I'll give you an update.

on the other hand, if anyone already knows it does or doesn't work, please let me know. thanks.

I had one taken each way.

The inguinal procedure is more painful and takes longer to full heal and recover.

Though the scrotum is much quicker healing less pain, i have never felt any stump of the cord in the scrotum.

Question is which way would i do it if i did it again.

Through the scrotum is far much easier just to have them removed. Thats the way i go again.

But if they is any medical reasons such as cancer you have to have them removed by the inguinal procedure.

Quite similar to my experience: I also had one each way. I had ilioinguinal nerve damage from my inguinal (for cancer), causing numbness on my thigh and side of my groin that took years to (mostly) recover, and a massive scar. After my scrotal, healing was much quicker, and after around six months to a year, I could not feel any cord remnant. I still have my scrotum.

Five years ago mine were removed from scrotum.

At the time I did know about any other method of removal.

After I found out about the inguinal method I wished it had been done that way, however later I found out that inguinal takes more time, involves a lot more surgery, and results in a bit more recovery and is generally used for anyone who has testicle cancer so that all the cords, etc. are removed.

Five years later I still have some minor pain in the cords, and oddly when I massage the cords it feels as though I still have a testicle, basically a phantom testicle.

So, that's my experiences.

Both of mine were removed by a surgeon in hospital through the scrotum. I have never felt any cord ends down there and am very pleased with the results. I also like that I don’t have any scars on my abdomen like one normally would get from inguinal removal.

On 5/30/2018 both were removed by urologist through my scrotum.

Pain and swelling took about a week.

And to this day I feel the cords in my upper groin, and on occasion there is a small amount of sensitivity.

In particular if I massage the cords, I feel as if I still have a testicle, and get a phantom sensation that my testicle is still there.

Mostly on the right side; the left side is fully retracted and not noticeable to detection

So, each of does, and will have a different experience.

There is no such thing as identical experiences; although from person to person there will be similar individual experiences.

An update to my prior post;

Lately I have the sensation that I have a right side testicle and it hurts.

My chiropractor is adjusting my spine and says this is probably just a sensitive nerve that goes to the cords that remained after surgery.

It is interesting however to feel as though I have a right testicle, even though I do not.

An odd phantom pain.
