I have done Androcur for a month, then stop. Then, a couple of months, then stop. Since the second time, I don't return to full functionality. Erections become weaker even after stopping for months. ejeculate remains somewhat clear yellowish, so I assume my testes already stopped producing sperms any more. In short, everybody's mileage is different. Androcur's damage to the testes may occur earlier or later, depending on your body's reaction to it.

After 4 years of on and off Androcur, I am currently permanently chemically castrated. Never needed surgery.

Side effects of Androcur are the same as being low on testosterone. Again everybody's reaction and severity is different. I experience severe loss of energy, mild depression, weight gain.

The biggest and most serious concern for being on low testosterone is osteoporosis.

Equipoise will prevent the bad healthy but shut down your libido and the ability to get an erection very fast (ca. one week).

On androcure I had nightsweat, hotflushes, extreme shortness of breath, brain fog, no power (also muscles) ... you will don't have this sedes with equipoise.

Also, it's cheaper then androcur. ;) But, you have to inject it but you can do it subcutane, what is easy to do.

I had 3 periods on androcur , the longest was nearly a year. Each time it took about 3 /5 months for everything to return to normal. It was a fairly gentle process no great drama. It convinced me to go the whole way and get rid of the balls eventually. Life as a full eunuch is just great for me.

Are you on any testosterone replacement therapy?

It seems like Androcur is not very safe drug if you want your testicles to survive. There have been cases where Androcur caused permanent castration. One case (I think it was on a PubMed) that I read had following symptoms. After stopping 6 months on Androcur, it took some time, can't remember how much exactly, perhaps a month or two, after man returned to normal and actually he felt like entering another puberty. But then after a month has passed being normal, everything shut down. It was discovered that T wasn't at castrate levels and adding more T didn't help much. It seemed like T receptors were dead or insensitive to T. Though this phenomenon hasn't been studied well, as it does not happen often enough and as Androcur is prescribed for old men who choose Androcur over orchiectomy and don't need to return to normal. Still, for boys with prococious puberty Androcur is not used. Instead triptorelin is used. And for some unknown reason doctors switched prescribing triptorelin instead of androcur as triptorelin became available. I haven't found any mention about why did they switch despite tripto is much pricier.

Thanks erikboy, and to everyone who has answered my thread. Can one buy triptorelin without a scrip? I can buy a 3 month supply of Androcur for $215 without scrip.

I have been put on Androgel due to the unpleasant side effects of low T, especially depression and lack of energy. My libido returned somewhat, erections remain weak at best. Ejaculate remain clear.

Here is my own experience only. Others may experience differently.

Can't answer your question about prostate health. My gut assumption is that stopping Androcur should not increase prostate cancer risks. Androcur is supposed to reduce prostate cancer risks by lowering T production and receptors while taking it. After stopping Androcur, I certainly never experienced nor heard of any rush of T. Instead, my on-going T level remains below normal. At low T levels, I don't suppose there would be any increased risk of prostate cancer just because of stopping Androcur. Of course, there may well be other causes of prostate cancer.

But I am no doctor. That's just my own conjecture as a layman.

If you don't have had prostate cancer before you are using androcur, after it will be no difference.

Androcur (low T.) is only helpful for existent bad material in the prostate and prevent a growing if it.

For a healthy prostate is all ok also with normal T-Level.

No, after androcur you will slowly get back your normal levels. There is no spike!
