My experience as a chemical eunuch is somewhat similar to DeaconBlues. I enjoy cuddling, kissing, even foreplay, as much as, or even more than before chemically castrated. Actually, even though not getting hard at all, I can still enjoy sex, just not penetrative sex. The difference is I have lost the drive or the urge for sex. But if the occasion comes up, I can still enjoy playing with each others' genitals. I experience is more relaxed. No more performance anxiety. No more urge to cum. Just go with the flow, and enjoy the feelings along the way.

Because I too do not wish feminization, I did not use estrogen. I too felt the same as DeaconBlues that use of supplemental testosterone seem contradictory to getting castrated. So, I supplemented with an anti-estrogen, first Tamoxifen, later changing to Raloxifene, which is better to prevent osteoporosis. These supplements helped a great deal.

I did get into depression, weight gains, and loss of energy and motivation ... all signs of low testosterone. Unfortunately, with a major life event, my depression got really bad. I started using low dose of androgel, and all of these side effects subsided. Meanwhile, I do not experience return of libido. So I am quite happy at this moment.

As DeaconBlues said, YMMV. So, we each just have to find what medicine and dosage works best for oneself.

About the weight gain, do you think strict diet and exercise can stop that from happening?

I've been on DP myself for a few stretches since 2009. DeaconBlues may be *very* sensitive to it because although it was effective, it was nowhere near as quick in its effect on me as on him. Certainly not quick enough to have to wash my own body odour off my sheets (I do change them every week). It took about three weeks to have a serious effect. It doesn't make you impotent but it will make you less inclined towards sex and interested in fantasy. I liked that result but sometimes (not always) I felt quite depressed and agitated and I'm not sure if it was down to the drug or not. Men who are prescribed this for sex-offender management are typically given greater doses than the 150mg dose given to women for contraception. Never tried Androcur or any of the more expensive pituitary-targeted agents.

Weight gain depends mostly on your body chemistry. Some gain a lot and some do not at all. But mostly eunuchs gain at least some fat. You will find that dieting and excercising will be extremely difficult. As you will loose some motivation to do that, and you gotta have 4 fold more willpower to supress what your body tells you to do. But you could be successful if you could trick your body somehow.

No T and weight gain can happen, but while I don't think I am particularly strong-willed, I have no difficulty keeping the weight inside the recommended limits.

How's it done? A little organization of life: weigh regularly, cut unnecessary carbs/calories as needed. Eat at mealtimes -not between, enough to supply the energy needs but not to feel stuffed. Smaller candy quantities, measured but still enjoyable alcohol. All not hard really.

I guess if you can't say no when the T is normal, you don't have any better chance on no T. :(

Shepherdsflock No. Weight gain was caused by a combination of the side effects of low testosterone, based on my own experience:

1. Very low energy level. So, no more energy to do exercise.

2. Mild depression. Further disinterest in doing any activity, and low interest about dieting. Instead, can cause binge eating of all the wrong things which are comforting, like chocolates.

3. Low motivation. Same as above. Just lack interest in things. Watching my waist size increase with alarm but without any motivation to do anything about it. Kind of feeling helpless, which further drove depression.

Taking Tamoxifen, or better yet, Raloxifene, helped a lot on these. But later, I had a family loss that sent my depression into a tailspin.

My new primary care doctor and my therapist found out I had very low testosterone levels, and prescribed a low dose of Androgel. It helped restore much of my energy and motivation, and reduced my depression sufficiently to avoid taking anti-depressants. Luckily, by this time, all the penile shrinkage and castration have become permanent. The Androgel did not do anything in restoring genital size. If anything, it made my testicles even smaller. It did bring back libido by a bit. Even so, erections are very difficult to come by. I do enjoy climaxing while still remaining mostly soft and small.

The low dose of Androgel also helped me work off the weight I gained, through diet and exercise. As such, at least for me, the weight gain was clearly caused by the side effects of low testosterone.

I had a period of time where I had low t and was taking prednisone so if course my weight started climbing up. I got off the prednisone eventually and by conscious diet choices and very light exercise I've dropped fifteen of those extra 30 so far. The motivation to do it came from my partner. Without him, I would be a contentedly fat happy eunuch. So tell your wife that she may have to take on that role with you because you may not care after while. I still enjoy being with my partner even though we don't really do sex anymore. The nice thing about chemical castration is that it is pretty reversible. And there are a few new options out there. Go read the triptorelin for $22 thread to see about a newer method I beat a small trail into. And good luck.
