I see my Doctor tomorrow.. I'm letting her know about the Vitex and Saw Palmetto and finding out if they are OK for me to take.. I'm hoping there will be no problems.. I remember reading somewhere that Vitex can have complications with anti-psychotics... dont know how reliable that source is. I'll find out tomorrow.

Just make sure you're getting these supplements from a reputable source.

Many of the ones sold at department stores were busted some years ago, for being nothing more than caplets full of sawdust.

Your best bet, even though it's going to cost you more, is to find a mom'n'pop shop apothecary.

Even then, you've got the problem of needing to take high doses to get anything to happen.

b) another one found out similar results, saw palmetto inhibited the 5-α enzyme, thus also blocked dihydrotestosterone.

c) This study found out that saw palmetto can have a side effect of sexual dysfunction, which really isn’t a surprise when it blocks the main androgen behind sexual function.

d) This study found out that saw palmetto might help men who have enlargened prostates, as it can relieve bening prostate hyperplastia (BPH). However the benefits are miniscule on the side of the big negatives.

e) One study saw a 32% decrease in DHT after saw palmetto supplementation. They also found out that a hair loss drug called Finasteride had similar effects (more about the dangers of Finasteride here).

They are saying that the sexual decrease is a bad side effect when In fact it is exactly what I am looking for.. I'm a bit worried about a possible enlarged prostate which is something I have been finding about Saw Palmetto

Note that these don't "block DHT". Instead they block the conversion of regular testosterone to DHT. Basically young men mostly have testosterone and then DHT production kicks in when you're a bit older. DHT causes male pattern baldness, prostate enlargement, etc. but also provides a boost of strength and virility which is why a 40 year old guy can often be stronger than a 20 year old guy.

So the relationship between DHT and libido is complicated. Blocking conversion of testosterone to DHT will probably raise your actual testosterone a bit, and if your normal testosterone is normal I don't know that you'll see a lot of libido effect.

Great! Now I gotta worry about fake stuff.. I bought Spring Valley stuff.. Now I do not know where to find good stuff.

Six "Spring Valley" brand herbal supplements per store were purchased and analyzed: Gingko Biloba, St. John's Wort, Ginseng, Garlic, Echinacea, and Saw Palmetto. Purchased from three geographic locations with representative stores in Buffalo, Utica and Westchester.

None of the supplements tested consistently revealed DNA from the labeled herb. One bottle of garlic had a minimal showing of garlic DNA, as did one bottle of Saw Palmetto. All remaining bottles failed to produce DNA verifying the labeled herb.

Of the 90 DNA test run on 18 bottles of herbal products purchased, DNA matched label representation 4% of the time.

Contaminants identified included allium, pine, wheat/grass, rice mustard, citrus, dracaena (houseplant), and cassava (tropical tree root).

I called my Pharmacy and asked them where I can get good stuff.. They said shop for Natures Bounty or Nature Made brand. So the search goes on.. It seems I'm at 50 / 50 with this stuff some people say it decreased their libido while others said the opposite. Still gonna try being a guinea pig..

SP on me has had no real effect in the past.

Also the other herbs are not really helpful... but with a little luck it can help you. ;)

The only natural based thing wat was helpful on me is progesterone cream.

I saw my Doctor today and she said she was ok with me trying these herbs Saw Palmetto and Vitex. She did say that there are mixed messages about thes herbs for some people it has worked in lowering their libido while in others she said they increase. It all depends on a persons physiology. So Here I am being a Guinea Pig to see if it will work for me. So today is Day 1 in taking these herbs.. It can take over 6 weeks for the Vitex to work so I'm gonna have to be patient. ⛵

As for the Progesterone cream how do you take it? As directed on the bottle? or do you have to put in in that sort of area? How long did it take?

OK Into week 3 and I havent masturbated yet.. I test this also by watching porn and seeing my reaction to it.. I am able to watch porn and not masturbate.. I believe the Saw Palmetto must be working.. The Vitex doesnt kick in for 6 weeks so it's gotta be the palmetto. So far things are going well... I havent masturbated for a while now.. this is a good thing. My Doctor gave me a print out from a Herbalist Book for Doctors. In it it says a contradiction.. First it says it can heighten libido and then it says it can lower libido. So it's a 50 50 gamble. Sometimes it works to lower libido and sometimes it's the opposite.. It seems my body reacts favorably on this stuff.
