Episode 8...

Odin, the man who owns the slaughterhouse in Annville, really worships the "God of Meat" and not the God in Heaven.

Donnie, who we all thought was roided out bully and who Preacher forced to stick a gun in his mouth, sticks his head in a trunk and blows out his eardrums. Thus he is safe from Preacher's commands when Preacher uses Genesis.

Genesis, oh yeah, didn't mention that did I.

Tulip the very lovely Ruth Negga, buys a dog which is so cute and adorable until she feeds him to the vampire Cassidy after Preacher let him nearly burn to death in the sun.

And LeBlanc and Fiore have failed so they are going to plan B.

And in the previews, the Cowboy will return to Ratwater for his revenge. the Cowboy is going to be very special, is very special. He's a patron saint and his history is horrific.

It's not that confusing.

In Episode #8 --

Jess the Preacher shoots off the penis of one of the Meat-Men (please don't ask me to explain further). There is much made of the man walking back to his group out of range with his penis in his hand. Apparently it fell out the leg of his coverall. Jesse the Preacher is apparently very, very, very good with a gun.

Episode 9 -- Finish the Song

This is the next to last episode of Season 1 and it's phenomenal.

All the parts are starting to come together.

We find out why The Cowboy keeps on riding...

The fate of Cassidy (the very strange vampire)

We meet Tulip's "Carlos"

Gain a glimpse of Hell

The Sheriff finds the angel

Dogs and Cats raining from the skies... (uh now)

Fiore and LeBlanc lose their phone and get an offer of cheap and tawdry sex

It's a bloody red mess

And In the final episode next week -- God comes to Texas...

I wouldn't lie about that

Episode 10 -- CALL AND RESPONSE

Unexpected is the only thing I can say besides "Tulip wants french fries..."

The final 15-20 minutes are the most nihilistic and scary things I've ever seen.

Let me try to summarize what PREACHER is about.

Spoilers... spoilers... spoilers...

God, for one... But don't think religious. Fundamentalists and Evangelicals should step away now.

Preacher Jesse Custer has a shady history. He saw his father (a preacher) shot to death as a young child and he promised his Father that he would bring God to the People. Now Preacher has a checkered background of bank theft, whoring, general indecency, and all sorts of sins.

One day he returned to his Father's church in Annville, Texas determined to bring the Word to the people.

Somewhere in the universe, something escapes from its "tin box." It flies to earth. Finds a church in African, explodes the minister and the patrons. It flies to Russia and an entire Orthodox congregation explodes into meat patties. In the end, it finds Jesse Custer on his first day in Annville. It's name is Genesis and it is the unholy offspring of an angel and a devil... Whatever it is, it gives Jesse "the voice of God" that must be obeyed, regardless of the command.

Now Annville is a one coma[ny town -- a giant meat packing company that raises its own cattle and slaughter them. The owner of the Meat Plant wants PREACHER's church to expand his company. He is haunted by the tragic death of his entire family (6 kids and wife) who were going skiing when the gondola of the tramway lift carrying them broke and fell several thousand feet. He really wants to know why from God himself. . . Meat Packing King is determined to expand his plant.

This is neglecting Tulip (Jesse's one true love who was raised in a whorehouse), Carlos, The Seraphim, Eugene who is mostly called Arseface because of a shotgun injury. Arseface is the town pariah. Arseface's father, the crooked sheriff, and a host of other odd and unusual characters in Annville.

Cassidy is a vampire and two angels -- Leblanc and Fiore are hunting him and also responsible for letting Genesis escape. Cassidy meets them on an airplane and although they can't be killed, their bodies replicate immediately upon death a few feet away. This has some implications for the Seraphim in a fight scene later in the series. Cassidy becomes friends with Jesse and Tulip.

Now Leblanc and Fiore have this telephone that calls heaven - a direct line to God. Jesse steals it.

Meanwhile, shortly after the War Between the States, in an obscure town in Texas, a man travel from his farm to get medicine for his sick daughter. The town treats him badly. He takes his guns and kills everyone in the town and a few more. This gunman was known as "The Butcher of Gettysburg" for his delight and glee in killing those southern boys. He is damned to Hell where he becomes so unlike and hateful because of his love of death that Lucifer names him "The Saint of Killers." When Leblanc and Fiore (the two angels) are thwarted in their capture of Genesis because "It just doesn't want to" they travel to Hell to bring back the Saint of Killers.

About that time, Jesse the Preacher phones heaven with the entire town and they discover that God has left and no one knows where He is.

Dissolution... disappointment... depression... and generally a bummer !

Remember that little detail of the Meat Plant? Well it has one huge, giant, methane plant for all the waste of the cattle and the leftover meat bits that don't become burger patties... It seems that the older fellow who runs this plant can't get his wife to be frisky and romantic. She says that's dirty stuff... Knowing that God ain't in his heaven, he brings one of the whores to his control room and in the act of whopee dies of a heart attack. The plant explodes and takes the entire town of Annville with it. Because there are methane vents running all through the town. . . Think almost a nuclear methane fart of a blast. At that minute, The Saint of Killers appears in the rubble of the church.

And that is where the Graphic Novel comic begins and the first season on AMC ends.

I've left out so much fun stuff. PREACHER is unique as TV goes.

PREACHER season 2 begins tonight.

This is about where the comic begins as SEASON ONE was created as a prequel to introduce the unsuspecting and innocent public to the characters and the story. . .

What the fuck just happened on my TV?

The episode opens with Cassidy the Vampire berating his fellow passengers (Preacher Jesse and Tulip) about conspiracy theories concerning circumcisions and foreskins.

Then the police chase begins and next the Saint of Killers arrives.

The Saint of Killers is character in the story.

Tulip says: "We're in Texas. They pretty much grow crazy here"
