There is no logical reason why we want to transition. In fact if you think about it, it's absolutely illogical to transition. To ask for discrimination and social injustice is not logical at all. But current science tells us that the hormone wash that is supposed to change the brain from the default of female to male either occurs late and/or is not completely effective. So our brains continue developing as female for a length of time when they should already have been converted to male or the brain is only partially converted. We in effect, have a transsexual brain. Therefore it has nothing to do with our thoughts and logic, it is simply that our brains are wired wrong for our bodies. We can no more stop our brain from wanting to be in the correct body that we can stop the earth from traveling in it's orbit. So no, it isn't logical but it is physiological.

It's been a long time, several years, since I read that. I'm not sure where it was but I'll look and see if I can find it.

GenChick, it may have been a summary of this one. Zhou, Jiang-Ning; Hofman, Michel A.; Gooren, Louis J. G.; Swaab, Dick F. (1995). "A sex difference in the human brain and its relation to transsexuality". But there have been several studies since then with the same conclusions and some recent work seeming to indicate there is a genetic link to the improper hormone wash. Of course I'm not a doctor or a scientist so I don't understand a lot of what they talk about. 🤷

Abstract

Transsexuals have the strong feeling, often from childhood onwards, of having been born the wrong sex. The possible psychogenic or biological aetiology of transsexuality has been the subject of debate for many years. Here we show that the volume of the central subdivision of the bed nucleus of the stria terminals (BSTc), a brain area that is essential for sexual behaviour, is larger in men than in women. A female-sized BSTc was found in male-to-female transsexuals. The size of the BSTc was not influenced by sex hormones in adulthood and was independent of sexual orientation. Our study is the first to show a female brain structure in genetically male transsexuals and supports the hypothesis that gender identity develops as a result of an interaction between the developing brain and sex hormones.

Sadly, you sound just like my dad when I was a kid. "Why, why, why do you do these things", he would plead. I never could give him an answer. "I don't know" was my best response. That's the problem with parents..and society.. Always demanding to know "why". The real answer..."because, I just do".

He wants you to grow up and mature, be responsible for your actions. He wants you to think before you do something wrong. Good parents do that! And the answer “because, I just do” does show that you were not mature at that time! 🍑👋 :)

You're welcome. If you do a search for Causes of transsexualism, go to the Wikipedia article and at the bottom of the page is a list of several references including various studies that have been done.

Are drugs involved?

I write as a hobby. I just finished an article on a drug recovery program here called Set Free that really touched me. They have a blackboard where each person writes their current age, the age they started drugs, the age they knew that drugs caused problems in their lives, their current age and how old they feel like they act. They all started at 7-14 years old. Why is a separate question - I could definitely see myself there although my drug of choice was beer and scotch. The point is that they started drugs to kill the pain during the phase of life where you learn maturity, taking responsibility, etc. That is why one of the biggest problems for recovery is people are 25 going on 13.

In my opinion, the question is wrong.

It would be much better to answer the question:

How to has this situation come?

or something similar.

There is also the question, why not ?, could be better
