Let me ask a question -- What if it was all a dream ... That's not a satisfying solution by the way.

Another possible explanation is a truly Science Fiction -- what if there are places or times or certain events that place us closer or in contact with alternate universes in the Multiverse? What if all these people are living in alternate universes and when those universes touch, they all become aware of their alternate lives?

What is "authentic" and what isn't? That's another question that has intriguing answers and is a possible explanation of the story.

Also, the I-Ching and Taoism figures into this in ways that I can't seem to fathom right now. I don't know enough of the I-Ching.

In the Amazon version, there is only one character that uses the book for guidance. The world they live in has been very solid, the only hints of any alternatives would be in the films that the underground smuggle out. Hitler collects them as says something like "What it could have been" and seemed to imply willpower and destiny are what changed things (at least how I understood it).

Only in the final scene did the world switch from that world to what I would call 'our' world.

As for Piracy, posting about it in a public forum seems like a dubious idea....

We Must keep TV FREE.

There are too many angles.

Too many coin boxes over what I watch.

It should all come through "One" box.

Netflix, Hulu, etc. set up their own box system.

Screw 'em

Moi,

Would you kindly bugger off and start your own thread for this and let the adults discuss the show that is the object of this thread?

Your messages are an intrusion.

That makes me even more determined to see it on video. It is a big change from the book. The book never actually speaks about alternate realities. It just leaves it to the reader. I haven't read his "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" but from the movie, I know that is a treatise much like Frankenstein where the created comes back to chasten the creator.

The idea that willpower and destiny changed history sound more to me like the I-Ching ideas and influence. In the book one of the main characters almost doesn't even move without consulting it.

There is also a discussion in the book about "authenticity." Suppose you would own or hold an object from the past. Any object. Let's say Billy the Kidd's revolver. How would you know it was authentic? After all, his revolver was mass produced at the time and we certainly have the artistic and technical means to create a duplicate that would appear to the untrained eye as authentic... There has to be a piece of paper that pronounces it authentic. Something that confirms it is real and the Billy the Kidd used it.

So now, what of this world informs us that it is not a dream? That this reality is not one of many? Willpower and destiny do not. What "certificate of authenticity" do we have?
