I don't think so, state after state within an hour of the decision contacted the news services saying we are open for business, it happened in all those red states that have been fighting this. Its a done deal, what shocks me is I thought this would take about ten years to happen, it took two. There is no going back, the US Military came out and said gay marriages would be in all states for military personal.
The next fight is trans, which the military said we need to move forward on this, its going to happen.
Watch this, its happening right before our eyes,

Did anybody see them light up the White House Friday night? It not only happened there but in state and city houses all over the country.
What an amazing day it was, one of those rare days in history that people will say "where were you when".

Congress is to make the laws, the court are to interpret the laws that congress makes. That how I believed it was. That's how it should be. I personally think marriage should be between a man and a woman. Congress should have got on the ball and created a civil union or domestic partnership with nearly the same benefits as a marriage for 2 men or 2 women.

Yes, the congress could have done that before
but now that the Supreme Court has ruled that marriage is an equality right under the 14th amendment,
congress would have to pass a constitutional amendment and get that amendment ratified.

Generally, the congress/legislature makes law, the president says yes or no (or proposes laws) and the courts determine constitutionality of the laws. So basically the Supreme Court waited for various states to make laws, in this case laws against same-sex marriage, and then ruled they were unconstitutional under the 14th amendment and the equal protection clause and to a lesser extent under the "full faith and credit" clause. Basically they told the various states they couldn't pick which marriage licenses from other states they would and would not recognize. They had to recognize them all, and since that would make it possible for even their citizens to get married in other states, they would have to recognize those too.
Effect - marriage is legal in all 50 states now.
Other western nations are looking at the US in bewilderment about this and wondering what all the fuss is.

The supreme Court already ruled in Brown vs. the Board of Education that "separate but equal" was impossible, so any such law would have been ipso facto unconstitutional. There is no logical defense of "traditional" marriage without creating a fascist state.

Until one can get a countertop Mr. Clonee machine from K-mart, I'd imagine they'll be babies created from opposite sex friends, or adoptions.
