I always liked daylight saving time myself, always hated it when we turned the clocks back. HOWEVER here in the Great State of HAWAI'I we don't use day light saving time as it would not make any sense. In the winter we get about 11.5 hours of sunlight in the summer about 12.5 hours. We don't have winter days where the sun is down at 4 in the afternoon or summer days when it goes down at 10pm, there is not a noticeable difference from winter to summer.

Having grown up in LA and lived several years in Wisconsin it does make a difference the further north you go. I am not sure it saves anything and as far as I am concerned it could stay DST year round but it makes no sense at all here.

As for changing clocks, like Kristoff I stopped using wristwatches years ago for the same reasons, I had to change two clocks, the third one is a wonderful clock that tells me what day it is so no need to change it, because when your retired everyday is Saturday or Tuesday.

As for MOI, why should you care, like me you are retired so what does it matter what the clock says?

Most days I don't even look at the clock, no reason to, the sun comes up, it goes down.

So Moi, why is it such an issue for you?

OH and when do the clocks change again? This is an important question for me, because you guys on the left coast will be 3 hours ahead not two or ... to much math so early in the morning, the sun is just coming up for another beautiful day.

OH and one last little thing, I know its nit picking but its Daylight Saving time, not Daylight savingS time.

I am curious of course what MOI would have done had he lived a couple hundred years ago where time was based local, every city had its own clock and noon was when the sun was at its zenith. Remember keeping a 24 hour clock world wide is a new thing in the world.

Hawaii is just below the Tropic of Cancer (NOT Henry Miller) and that makes daylight savings time of no use.

The entire USA is north of the Tropic of Cancer and the more north you go, the darker the night gets in the winter.

Dayligth Savings Time works best if your in the Eastern part of the zone. here in Maine it works will.

The biggest issue I have with it is they end it 6 weeks before the shortest day of the year and then start it 12 weeks after. Which to me doing that in the dark was half the fun.

No matter the length of it, it should be equal distant for standard time on either side of the shortest day of the year. By the time November rolls around I can't get out of bed on time to get to work because my body fights it since it's not yet light out. *ugh*
