Her situation was a little different being from China. Apparently, there law is set up such that you don't receive your full legal identity until you are 18 or 21 or something (she explained it awhile ago I don't remember all the details). At this time they determine your gender, in China you must have male genitals to be male otherwise you legally default to female.

Quick update, she is still looking forward to getting the surgery and I'm excited to set her up with it. We are having trouble finding a doctor that will do it. Does anyone know of a doctor or hospital that does this procedure?
