Hi GenChick, I had an MRI and they have found a pitutiary adenoma. A tumour of the pitutiary gland that controls hormone messages to other glands. As my FSH & LH are at normal levels instead of being raised. This is what would be expected for primary testicular failure.

It looks like my pitutiary tumour is what has been causing me big ups and downs in hormones for years.

These adenomas are nearly alway benign and very treatable.

If they suspect secondary testicular failure they should/will scan your head.

It took 5 months for Calcium Chloride to get rid my body of testosterone. I don’t need any anti-androgen now and my body answering cheerfully to just 4 mg of Proginova per day!

I saw an endocrinologist today and told her about my transgender issues, but I concealed use of estrogen. She wants to see if I have problem with pituitary gland and order extensive (16 in total) blood tests. One of them estradiol! If I keep taking 4 mg of Proginova, would it make my estradiol level to high or just normal? Should I stop consuming it a day prior my blood test?

She asked me to consider testosterone replacement

I don’t want them (endocrinologist & urologist) to know that I am taking estrogen until my testis issue (trauma) is resolved!

Jcat, what are they doing with your pitutiary adenoma? Did they order any treatment?

The half life of oral progynova is only 27 hours but the levels will spike higher and faster if you do it sublingually. you may want to get off of it for a week before getting blood drawn if you dont want much of it picked up in your system. I highly recommend estrodiol injections and adding progesterone for at least 12 days a month. It's best to let estrogen and progesterone have their own dominant period every month as they cancel out some of the negative effects of each other as well as work together. My adenoma is causing my thyroid and adrenals to either be hypo or hyper active in between periods of normality. The only treatment is surgery as it is not a prolactinoma that respond to medication.

I am opting to monitor hormones for a period to see if it gets worse, sometimes they just go:-) in the meantime I get headaches, mania, and get extremely hot or cold. Sometimes my head is hot and my body is freezing....

I have found injectable estrogen more effective and is kinder to the liver. I think Jessica is right and I agree about depro provera it affects the Pitutiary adversly and can cause instabilty of the hypothalmus

jcat, heartbreaking to hear about side effects you going through. I wish your hormones stabilize and you would start enjoying life more fully! Take care!

Testosterone measured = 2.4

Urologist thinks my testes getting better (lesions become smaller) and orchiectomy is off the list now, endocrinologist is seeing that everything is becoming normal and does not want to see me anymore.

I did third Calcium Chloride injection to make lesions large again… I hope this would turn clock back to orchiectomy again.

@GenChick, just goes to show resilient the little things are! I am in much the same position as you and there is a great reluctance to remove them.
