I'm also in a similar situation as you Wifflebender. I have had chronic testicular pain for the last four years after having numerous abdominal surgeries, where the inguinal nerve and other associated branches were damaged, or developed scar tissue entrapment around them. I was treated with medications, progressing to nerve blocks as the condition worsened. I was told an orchi would not help since my problem was occurring above them. The nerve blocks worked great for me but eventually worked less and less time for me. I eventually had a nerve stimulator implanted to block the pain signals. Sounds like your uro is going to use the blocks as a diagnostic tool to confirm the pain is coming from your testicles. The pain doc may also try some non narcotic medications that work on blocking the nerve pain such as Lyrica, and Cymbalta. My pain has recently worsened again and is not controlled as well with the implant. After a recent visit with my pain doc the orchi discussion is back on the table. Good luck with your pain doc.
Thanks Phil I take amitryptaline at night for for possible neuropathic pain. I guess I will find out about the nerve blocks but if they did work on you wouldn't than mean that there was pain coming from your testicles? I hope they figure out your pain

Although Lyrica (also known as Pregabalin) can be an excellent drug to treat neuropathic pain, it can also be lethal! As a result of this I would advise anyone who plans to take Lyrica, to take the first few doses with someone around who can at least call for an ambulance, if not give CPR.

Exactly.
This stuff nearly killed my Auntie with a pneumonia-like reaction, which caused a stroke as well.

I was prescribed it once, but had to stop taking it. Felt like I had a bad case of the flu after taking it for a couple of days.

I take that 3600mg a day (aka A LOT). It gave me back some mobility after being bed ridden for almost 3 years. Without it I couldn't do a lot of things like driving very far, shopping, laundry.
As far as side effects, it seems to combine with the morphine in my system (I have an intrathecal morphine pump to control pain) and makes ejaculation difficult. I also have ED, probably medicine related as well as physical reasons...so it can be a one two punch...getting close but not getting over the hump as it were..

My doctor has talked about doing an epidectomy on the left side because my left epididymis is what he believes is getting inflamed and causing swelling and pain. Anyone have any experiences with this procedure?

Pain doc is trying a topical cream that has a buch of stuff that I cannot pronounce that he has to order from the east coast. Does anyone else have any experience with topical creams for testicle pain? He said if those don't work then he will try gabaphentin

I've not used topicals, so I can't speak to it. Gabapentin, on the other hand, is "supposed" to be good for neural pain (it rarely is), and is generally worthless. There are a few others (e.g., Lyrica) that he might try to pawn off on you - generally worthless. Don't give trials long time periods. If stuff doesn't work, press the issue.
