I AM SHOCKED! This word of the day thread has been neglected, and it is so clear that here at the EA we do in fact have a veritable cornucopia, a plethora of sesquipedalian and pedantic contributors.
So now, I would like to offer a word of the day, a word that is useful to liars and those who must deal with liars, and that is everyone.
verisimilitude (ˌvɛrɪsɪˈmɪlɪˌtjuːd)
— n
1. the appearance or semblance of truth or reality; quality of seeming true
2. something that merely seems to be true or real, such as a doubtful statement

about 1:15 the word prevarications is used.
After viewing the scene a few times I looked "it" up.
A most excellent word.
pre·var·i·cate
priˈvariˌkāt/
to deviate from the truth
to speak or act falsely or evasively with intent to deceive
What a great word.
He ain't lyin', he's prevaricating.

And some politicians are loquacious prevaricators.

I have another VERY useful word: Mendacious, and it's relations, mendicant and mendacity.
Mendicant, that is like a beggar, a friar who owned nothing, someone who often tried to get food or money by telling an interesting story. Mendicants were, in their time, more often than not prone to "spin a yarn" and tell a "tall tale" and "take artistic license" and do every other sort of lying when they made up a story to tell, after all, they made their living telling entertaining tales so just like our entertainment today, much of their product was NOT very realistic, truthful, or factual.
Mendacious describes someone who tells whoppers, BIG lies, and since a lot of liars out there never bothered to really learn the English language, you can call someone a liar and make it sound like a real compliment. "I thought your story about the fishing trip and the fish you caught was very interesting, actually mendacious!" Or you might tell someone who has told you big lie, "You know, your mendacity is exceeded only by your intelligence, truly amazing!"

"I thought your story about the fishing trip and the fish you caught was very interesting, actually mendacious!"
That reminds me:
Three fishermen arrested for illegal fishing sit at police station, handcuffed, and tell tales to pass the time.
First one: I once caught a fish this big (showing the size as much as handcuffed hands allow).
Second one (after a bit of thinking): But I caught bigger fish, it had this much between the eyes (again showing like the first one).
Then they both asked the third one: And what was the biggest fish you caught?
He, after some thinking, said: Well, I caught bigger fish (spreading handcuffed hands) - it had balls this big.

Meretricious is a word that can be applied to most politicians and many MBAs.
