I think there is much difference, depending on whether all or most of the scrotum is removed. The scrotum contains not only testicles, but a septum, fat and some connective tissue. It's a question of whether a little scrotal skin is removed to reduce its size, or whether the scrotum is completely removed. That's why it is important to know exactly what the Doc intends doing for his fee. IMHO, $2.5k is a lot for just trimming some redundant skin without taking care of the rest of the issue. Caveat emptor.

I think when you are paying to have the scrotum removed, the doc should do what you want, not what he wants to do. I plan on having mine totally removed and from the posts here, it seems to me that it is a wise choice to wait a few months after castration before having the scrotum removed. I will probably have to wait a year before I can have it done, as I will need to save m,oney for this elective procedure and also vacation time for the healing.

Thanks guys for your input, it is greatly appreciated and if anyone else wants to chime in with their experiences, please do.

Well today it is now 48 hours since I was done here in Sydney. I woke up without any pain at all and to date still don't have any pain or any other form of discomfort. I do have a bit of swelling and bruising, worse on the left hand side than the right hand side, but I am sure this will go away in a few days or weeks. I don't have a drain in and this has not been necessary either. Changed the original dressing that my urologist put on after the surgery for a waterproof dressing and had a nice shower last night. I even drove my car to the store yesterday and it has a stick shift, so yes, my doc did a fantastic job. Now I will wait a few months and save up some money and probably around September or October at the start of the Sydney summer, I will have my scrotum removed as well.

I intend to have my scrotum removed ASAP, as the doc user self dissolving sutures on the incision in my scrotum and unfortunately my body seems to make these things dissolve too quickly. I had the surgery on 03/15/2014 and by 03/19/2014, they were already starting to dissolve and so the incision opened up a bit which has led to a very uneven scar. I tried to shave my scrotum today and due to the scar, it is very difficult to do without cutting myself to shreds.

When I have my scrotum removed in a few months, I will insist that they do not use self dissolving stitches.

A quick straw poll: of the many folks who have had a scrotum removal, who still has some recognizable scrotal skin?

Who has all redundant skin removed as in "flat or tight" above?

I had an incomplete job, and am looking to getting it completed before a warm summer. Anyone recommend their result and why?

micdavi24 if you find anyone in Australia that will remove the scrotum please let me know I have been to a Dr in Adelaide and he said he wouldn't remove the last 15% of mine. my reasoning to him was 1. to fix up the scar from the fist size hematoma and 2. don't want that small bit of skin left. he did how ever offer me implants I laughed and asked where are they ment to go, he would only do it after I have spent $1000s more jumping through hoops seeing other Drs to prove that the scar was causing me pain or sexual dysfunction. If anyone does know a good Dr who will remove the last bit of skin and do a good job I will travel to almost any part of the world to get it done.

I guess that this is where medical tourism comes in? Seems Thailand, India have places that will take a more relaxed view?

First up, I would not recommend a urologist to do this, I would go and see a plastic surgeon. Google Scrotal removal Sydney and a plastic surgeon will come up. Here is the link: http://www.drcolinmoore.com/procedures- ... ction.html Also here is their contact link as well: http://www.drcolinmoore.com/contact-us.html

I intend to contact them in a few months when things have settled down. If you do contact them, and they are amenable to doing the surgery for you, please keep me in the loop.
