When I was in college, my landlady for two years was a retired meat inspector for the USDA. When we were sitting in my apartment over coffee one afternoon she recounted an incident at one of the largest hot dog factories in North America. She caught the workers shoveling frozen bales of straw and manure into the hot dog mix. She said that, by regulation, she was forced to condemn that batch, though the extreme sterilization process would have made it perfectly safe for human consumption. She thought that batches of straw and manure made it into plenty of hot dogs when she wasn't there.

It's not only the penises and udders, lips and such that make it into processed food.....

And with that thought, I've lost my appetite.

My wife is a nurse who works at the county mental hospital. Maybe a year ago she told me about one patient who grabbed a scissors from another nurse and quickly cut off his penis. That didn't phase her but she complained that since then, they've had to keep scissors locked up in the drug cabinet.

My friends in Atlanta took me to a huge local store that sells every kind of food you can imagine to the dozens of ethnic groups living in the area. Weird shit like pig's heads and every organ that once was in a cow or bull. So I surreptitiously scanned the frozen section while my friends were somewhere else; bull penis is for sale. If you live in or near Atlanta you will know the store.
