I liked the old avatar better. If Paolo had intended avatars to be contained within the left border frame, he would have set the width at less than 250 pixels.

I am the one who prefers that avatars not 'stick out' as it were. It's distracting visually, although it is a preference and not a 'rule'

It's a limitation of the software that you can only specify one dimension to be used by both height and width ... thus to use all available space you would have to upload a square!

To get enough space up and down, I had to up the dimension number.

If you have an avatar that isn't exactly in compliance let Paolo or myself know and we can resize or crop it for you.

...it was full of avatars. Some were so sexy, my tongue was surely sticking out...

At one point, Erik's bedeviled avatar was snarllng at the great ascending avatar, Antonia. I was so scared I froze like a stonia.

As to things getting resized and cropped, that seems to happen a lot around here.
