Like Losethem, if I have to go and put it off, my flow is sometimes difficult to start. Also, my bladder does not fully empty when this happens. I am on HRT (not as much as my Dr. would like since my last reading was 180) and when that type of event occurs I find myself revisiting the bathroom in about 10 minutes. My Prostate is very small so it is probably just delaying going when I need to. I can empty my bladder when sitting also. Makes me wish my urologist would decide I need to lose my penis.. I sit to pee 99 percent of the time and have hit 100 percent even when traveling.

There are a number of drugs, most commonly anti-depressants, that are well known for causing delayed urination. When I was on them it would sometimes take seemingly forever to get the stream started.

Kegels might be of great help.

I once had an enlarged prostate and then prostate cancer. All that is behind me now but I have had flow problems from time to time even with a normal sized prostate. My urologist says even a normal sized prostate can shrink the urethral opening and cause flow problems. I take Flomax and right now all is OK.
I've had other problems urinating caused by after effects of the radiation but that's another story. 3 surgeries on my urethra to remove scar tissue. I think the last one finally did the trick. I don't care if I ever see another catheter.

Sitting to pee is not that difficult once you adjust to the routine. The biggest problem when away from home can occasionally be finding a public restroom with an adequate number of stalls.
When I first started sitting instead of using the urinal I frequently had to conscientiously remind remind myself when entering the restroom. It soon became a routine to just look for an empty stall. I even pull my pants down and squat when it becomes necessary to pee when outside. I never even think of pulling it out through the fly in my pants (actually paranoid of the thought) and peeing while standing.
The last few months before I began sitting I frequently splashed on my pants and got the last squirt in my pants after tucking it back in, leaving a noticable water spot

that showed on my pants. It has now been

over 15 years since I stood on any occasion.
That thing

no longer serves any real purpose for me and I would probably be better off without it.

A few years ago when the radiation side effects were really making my life miserable I took my grandkids and daughter-in-law to the Circus. I went to pee during intermission. I knew better but used a urinal anyway. Yes, I peed all over my jeans. What to do? I went to the sink and splashed water all over myself from the chest down. I told my daughter-in-law the faucet leaked and sprayed me when I washed my hands. Not as bad now but I still have to be damn careful.
