More national joke than national treasure
I remember the f-count - barely understandable overdubbed films. Like you say, nothing big or clever about it just censorship seems so much MORE childish.

the Oxford English Dictionary
and other dictionaries add "new" words that creep into English.
The only reason this is cute and fun is that Germans do not add too many "new" words like this.
And I think Angela Merkel has said it out loud and in public quite a few times.
That counts too.

Given the French tendency to accept-to the horror of the Academie Francais-words from other lands and reapply them (Le Smoking refers to a style of mens clothing, le fif o'clock is cocktails etc.) one can hardly wait to find whether they will go with "le shitstorm", "La Shitstorm" or just plain old "shitstorm" the way maman used to make it, a la bonne femme.

BUT NOT for the context of 'Duden' ....
