In Albuquerque I was in a Vietnamese grocery store with a friend. I looked around and there were a few kinds of tea at the end of one aisle. Then I turned into the next aisle and I was in tea heaven. -The whole aisle full. White, black, blue, green, other colors and all kinds of flavors from everywhere. I suspect it's the same in any Vietnamese or possibly in any Oriental grocery store.

I wonder why anyone would want to drink something labeled "Deathwish". Their website looks a little creepy. Maybe it's attractive to young people?

I rarely drink coffee anymore. I keep a couple of jars of instant in the cupboard, de-caf and regular.

Teas are so much more economical. Water in mug - tea bag on top - mug in microwave. 2 minutes later, I'm drinking something hot.

I can get 80-100 days of tea for about $1.

100 days of coffee was about $100, brewed at home.

I'm not against coffee consumption. Multiple studies show that one (1) cup of regular coffee (average consumer store brands, brewed at home) {black - no additives}; really does improve heart function, blood-flow, cognitive thinking, and test-taking (students). A little bit of caffine improves statins for pain relief.

It's the high-octane coffees, and all-day consumption that can kill you.

Over time, caffeine blocks receptors in the brain and releases chemicals that stimulate the central nervous system.

The result is less drowsiness, lower physical fatigue, and higher mental awareness – temporarily.

This process is very similar to what the body undergoes during stress.

Caffeine increases levels of the hormone epinephrine which stimulates your sympathetic nervous system; which increases heart rate, blood pressure, and blood flow to your muscles. It decreases blood flow to the skin and inner organs, and your liver dumps glucose.

The constant stress response causes other side effects including; insomnia, nervousness, restlessness, stomach irritation, nausea, vomiting, increased respiration, tremors, chest pain, and ringing in the ears.

If you consume a lot of caffeine, these symptoms may start to seem normal.

High caffeine consumption can worsen conditions like anxiety, bipolar disorder, high blood pressure, glaucoma, and irritable bowel syndrome.

It interacts with medications such as; anticoagulants, antidepressants, anti-anxiety drugs, adenosine, Phenobarbital, and stimulant drugs such as Sudafed.

It can alter the beneficial constitutes of supplements that contain ephedrine, bitter orange, guarana, or kola nut.

One cup of brewed coffee provides from 95-200 mg of caffeine.

An 8-ounce serving of black tea provides from 40-120 mg of caffeine.

An 8-ounce serving of green tea provides 15-60 mg of caffeine.

Soft drinks can provide from 20-80 mg of caffeine per 12 ounce serving.

Energy drinks can provide from 48-300 mg of caffeine per serving.

The handles are small enough that I have no choice but to extend a pinkie. I do enjoy promoting a more refined mannerly life. Sadly I have no one to invite to a tea party. When I bring out the china and silver I just make people nervous. I used to look longingly when I was young and my sisters were having a tea party.

Dito.

I like tea parties too. (My sister inherited granny's old silver tea set . . . 😠 ).

I have a clear glass tea set from an old hotel.

Yeah, you know us young people... we like everything EXTREME!!! That's why we constantly do meteor-hot buffalo wing challenges that rate 1,000,000 scoville units, just to brag about it to our friends, and have to do the cinnamon challenge even though we know we're just going to puke, and we like anything that is tough and manly and EXTREME, because we have to prove our masculinity by being the most EXTREME out there. "Death wish?" F*** YEAH, that sounds EXTREME!!! Gotta get me some of that S***!

(rolls eyes... how I wish this mindset wasn't all too true...)

Seriously, though, it's just for the same crowd that drinks energy drinks in order to stay awake all day. To that group, more caffeine = a good thing, because, God help them if they had to go through a whole work day without being completely jacked on sugar and caffeine. And to hell with the health consequences, and the dependency issues, and a whole host of other things. All that matters is being able to cram more energy into the day so that you can stay up later, get less sleep, and not have to deal with the after-effects.

Yeah... not a fan. I don't drink coffee, tea, or anything else unless I absolutely have to. Usually the most caffeine I drink during a day is a single can of Diet Pepsi, and even then I try to avoid it unless I absolutely have to. Both of my parents had to drink 2-3 cups of coffee every single morning just to get out of bed, and I do NOT want to follow into that same pattern. So for me, caffeine is only in case of emergencies. The real remedy to feeling tired for me is, *gasp,* getting more sleep. Going to bed at a decent hour, and taking an afternoon nap right before work so that I feel wide awake by the time I get there. Works wonders, and is MUCH less stressful.

Caffeine lets me drink more tequila.

;)

There are things in that tea that even provokes illness.

Unlike a simple Caffeine over dose that wears off in a day, this is long, long, long term problem.

Too much tea causes unusual bone disease

A woman developed skeletal fluorosis after she drank a pitcher of tea . . .

Heavy metals is also a concern.

I use one teabag to make 60 ounces of iced tea. And one sugar packet.

How could she use that many tea bags a day? How strong is what she drinks?

Coffee-quila - cute :D

A 47-year-old Michigan woman developed a bone disease rarely seen in the U.S. after she drank a pitcher of tea made from at least 100 tea bags daily, for 17 years, researchers report.

The Detroit woman visited the doctor after experiencing pain in her lower back, arms, legs and hips for five years. . . .

. . . The researchers suspected the woman had skeletal fluorosis, a bone disease caused by consuming too much fluoride (http://www.myhealthnewsdaily.com/2489-f ... tions.html) (a mineral found in tea as well as drinking water). . . .

Geeze! Who could tolerate such a thick brew?

Might-as-well just eat the tea leaves . . .

Well I guess I am safe I on a good day never go through more then 8 or so tea bags well short of the 100 per day for 15 + years for there to be a problem then of course we did not consider the water? so if that person drank only filtered bottled water would the results be the same? Sounds like one of those "the person died of cancer and he breathed air" things so AIR must be the problem.

I couldn't understand how people could stand the taste of coffee until I was 63. Then my father's hip broke from osteoporosis.

The orthopedic surgeon told me, offhandedly, that since my father had been a heavy drinker of colas, that this was the cause of the problem. He said that no one over the age of 50 (actually no one of any age) should drink anything that contains phosphoric acid. It leaches the calcium from your bones. He maintained that drinks containing phosphoric acid, most sodas, were the reason for the apparent epidemic of osteoporosis in this country. He asked not to be quoted on that, however, especially on the internet, since if his remarks caused a decline in soda sales he could be charged with "economic terrorism" under extensions to the Patriot Act. (Passed as a result of the Texas meat producers loosing the libel case to Opra Winfrey over her hamburger remarks.)

My drug of choice to get my morning caffeine had been Diet Pepsi which contains phosphoric acid. By reading labels I found that even things like bottled Lipton's green tea contained phosphoric acid. I stopped drinking colas and learned to like the taste of coffee. I'm not a serious coffee drinker, using sweetener and milk, but I have actually come to like the taste of certain varieties. I also drink tea, only fresh brewed, and I do agree that Earl Grey is my favorite.

Working on an orthopedic unit I had heard that from several doctors.
