I have an account on Livemocha, a language learning site. I frequently get 'romance scam' messages from African people there, a la 'saw your profile and wanna meet with you', 'remember love is what matters not the distance' etc. At first I thought they were real African whores seeking a way to get to the EU, but only later did I realize that most likely they're all men with nefarious intentions. Quite disturbing to receive the same messages every week.

My favorite spam emails came some years ago, "Make money with porta-potties!" At least it was unique?!

I don't have the link at hand, but they were able to scam money from the scammers. It was brilliant.

Reminds me of the story B. Russel wrote about a man who made a fortune by promising to make gold of water. He eventually lost all his fortune by being tricked by a guy who promised to make gold of water.

This one has got to be one of my fav one's it's fricken hilarious. Dunno how this guy had the time and genuity to scam the scammer in return but it's genius

I was very nearly taken in by one.

I answered an ad in my local paper looking for a tutor.
