This very question was asked among about 20 Boy Scouts age 12-15 while we were all taking a washrag bath one afternoon among the bushes at a High Sierra lake in 1956. No adults were present. Some of us were pre-puberty as I was at age 13, others post-puberty as their pubic hair revealed. It was the first open mention of castration or penectomy I’d ever heard and it came as a memorable surprise. Nobody showed any arousal from considering the question. Our consensus was to lose our balls on grounds they were useless without a penis, but by keeping the penis at least we could pee standing up, unlike how girls do it. Nobody favored losing their penis. Next day we hiked into Kings Canyon Nat’l Park from the east via Bishop Pass.

Decades later, the idea of losing my balls increasingly became intriguing and loaded with erotic significance. I’m in nvrgag44’s situation as to prostate cancer; if mine came back I’d go with losing my balls as the androgen suppression alternative. Penectomy alone turns me on because of the sexual frustration factor; the concept of being sexually teased without any hope of release (except, maybe, being penetrated by someone else) gets me really interested. Well I disagree there.

My penis could still be useful for sex once I was on hormone replacement. Thus I could still hopefully enjoy sex with my partner, and pleasure her as well. Even were that not possible I would still like the ability to take a leak in the woods as I do now. As an avid nature lover, I think my level of enjoyment would fall dramatically if I had to drop trou just to pee. No that little flap of skin is rather useful, and I feel rather attached to it. So I think I would keep it no matter what
