You know there is a right way and a wrong way to ask for something, however we do live in an instant gratification society now don't we?
I have noticed over the last year that there has been a lot of bitching about what has not happened in the last 10 seconds, however I have also noted that only one person keeps this all up and running, I don't ever see those guys that bitch all the time ever stepping up to the plate and pitching in, no its I want it for FREE and I wanted it YESTERDAY.
Talula, you are the man, you ROCK.

I'm embarrassed to show my face here after my intemperate remarks. I don't know what got into me; that's not my style at all. I guess I was experiencing a bitchiness overload that day and just needed to blow off steam. I certainly didn't mean to attack anyone at a personal or professional level.
My sincere apologies to those I offended, especially Talula. I can't tell you how much I appreciate all the hard work you have put into restoring the Archive to full functionality. Thanks so much for listening to my suggestions despite the ill-advised manner in which I conveyed them.
You are the best,
Nickolai

What old search option?
You can see the search field, midway down the right hand side, at
http://web.archive.org/web/201101071202 ... al=stories
If I'm not mistaken, Google won't be indexing the stories (name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow"). That's by design, no? It allowed a fairly decent search function if you knew how to put in the site:eunuch.org search term. So, no outside search (unless you plan to turn it on after it gets polished up all shiny).
There are some full text search options that might give a usable functionality ... but we can talk about that another time.

You see, I didn't know it was Google that was powering that search. Shows how much I know. (Hint: Almost nothing.)
In my fantasy world, there is a web building tool that allows you to search for terms, within the website you are building. I didn't realize it was Google's search that was being used.
My fantasy world is a rich place, populated by impossible ideas. Of course the simple answer was Google. So simple, I never thought of that.
Next you'll tell me, that the Spell Checking Fairy that lives on my computer isn't real. Can't you leave me with my illusions?
Well, I'm off to write my letter to Santa Claus. Maybe he'll bring me a better brain for Christmas.
Santa Claus is still real, right?

Yeah, Bing doesn't like us either. We've tried communicating with both, to no avail. Last time I checked, Yahoo still was OK with us

how does another sub-index sound? we can call this one DEVICES. stories with objects of at least moderate complexity(eg. axes, hammers, garden shears, scalpels, steel-toe boots, etc... are to simple to count. but things like gas-powered hedgetrimmers, weedwackers, penis guillotines[must. not. fap.], etc... fit this category to a T), and are used to do evil shit to male and/or female genitalia, would be featured in this index

Dear Sirs:
I don't mean to sound like a crank here, constantly bitching about things, but, although I am grateful to see a hit counter on the stories, the current version is not cutting it.
As an author I don't care that much about how many people checked out my stories today. What I want to see is a cumulative total.
Is that too much to ask?
Sorry if I inadvertently crossed anyone's boundaries.
Respectfully yours,
Nickolai
