I was just told that today over dinner with the one person who's as crazy as I am - my brother's girlfriend LOL.

We were talking about the site n all and she said that women, esp. Egyptians, prefered eunuchs in their company and that eunuchs at one time were highly sought and considered "high-ticketed" items.

Could anyone direct me toward any literature (non website please) on eunuchs in history. I'm trying to figure out where we went wrong and why they're not as revered as golden calfs as they were centuries ago.

Any thoughts on the cultural/contextual transitions are welcomed. I'm curious to see what you all think. If we find out what went wrong, maybe we can make it right again. :p

Reay Tannahill, Sex in History, a chapter on eunuchs.

Eunuchs & Castrati, A Cultural History, Piotr (Peter) Scholz.

Gary Taylor, Castration, A Brief History .... West. Manhood, dull and BORING and he's off in left field.

Vic Cheney books ... not worth the ink to print them.

Secret Sexualities, Ian McCormick.

Sexy Origins & Intimate Things, Charles Panatti. A bit of everything in that one.

Each of these should be readily found or ordered right off the shelf at your favorite bookstore.
