It's generally recommended to perform the scrotectomy several months later, after the swelling from the orchiectomy has resolved. Otherwise, the remaining skin could be pulled too tight as it heals, resulting in a VERY uncomfortable situation. Most people I've seen have mentioned or suggested having a cosmetic surgeon remove the scrotum for the best results, once the urological surgery is completely healed.

Concerning Dr Fara in Atlanta. He castrated me and did excellent work. He operates in a small local hospital which significntly increases the total cost, probably about $5000 today. This is most likely a deterrent to some. Total payments are made through him. The two ladies who work in his office are very friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Fara is very helpful, and I had a safe and very satisfying experience. No "letters" are necessary. Dr. Fara is not doing SRS at this time.

Dr. Foote, also in Atlanta, may do castrations, but it would be done in a hospital, and I have heard "letters" are required.

The doctor in Atlanta does SRS and he can perform castration with or without letter of a shrink same as Dr. A. Both have agreed to do me without letter. The difference in price is the anesthetic in atlanta it's done under general while in Michigan it's done under local. Regardless of price I'd prefer local.

Contact Dr. Arknoff by email. His office will write you back very quickly and give you the info. They seem very nice and non-judgemental. It's just matter of fact. Good luck. Maybe I'll see you there in the spring.
