Not to forget:

http://www.eunuch.org/forums/showthread ... hern-Calif.

What to do!

1) Stop continental drift and the mid Atlantic ridge expansion.

2) Cut some new fault lines to minimize shock radius.

3) Retro fit structures to California / Japanese standards to avoid the stones falling down as in Christchurch, N.Z. some months ago.

The "big one" in the east will be far more deadly because of the shock radius compared to localized Western E'quakes.

If we do not do something, I am not worried. Massive crust displacement will result in a California micro continent. You all should build a floating home. Higher points in Colorado may be the nearest dry land but, I doubt it as the heartland sinks. Some of the east coast may make it buckled up against the Appalachians but, this would be such a violent event as to make surface survival less likely.

The choice. Do nothing like my stock investment strategy or start planning and preventing.

I seriously doubt, Moi, if anything can be done at all.

The scope of the geoengineering that would be needed, in a rather sci-fi mindset, is overwhelming.

Even doing something to minimize damage would be a Herculean task, and where would the money come from? Those with the money don't care about those that don't have it, and have probably already calculated a safer location to be.

All we can really do is wait and hope for the best as the planet continues to shake.

Stop Continental Drift, Stabilize our Earth! 📢

PM to inquire about donations toward Earth Stabilization. As usual the East Coast will get first attention. Preventing further spreading of the mid Atlantic ridge.

Can we sacrifice Moi to the Earthquake Goddess?

O.K., but it was all in jest... (except for the underwear part, women REEEALLY do not like a man with DIRTY UNDERWEAR..., ...blessed or un-blessed.)

Moi, if there is one thing I have learned in this life is that you don't mess with mother nature, when she decides to do something there is little man can do to stop her or even slow her down.

like in Japan with the 30' wall for tsunami's so mother nature dropped the island 3' then let it rip. The earth is not violent or evil, it is alive and thank goodness it is. It is because of that life that we have life and we just need to realize that we live on a very alive planet.

Go back and look at the late 80's movie LA Story for a hint at how Californians usually react to this type of quake. In the movie the only person sitting in the restaurant that was the least bit unnerved was the person from out of town. Everyone else kept talking and you can hear in the background one person saying, "what was that quake? A 3 or a 4?" Or something like that.

The short version is we're all out here collectively yawning at this news. An earthquake this size out here wouldn't rate the amount of coverage on the local news that this one got on the national news. Not close by light years.

Losethem,

You earthquake snob, you! 😄

My ex-gf is from the Bay area, so she's *very* familiar with quakes, including the Loma Prieta in 1989. I agree that a 5.9 in Cali would be a yawner, but at the same time, it's because you're *used* to having earthquakes out there! Example: San Leandro had 3 small ones (3.6, 2.3, 1.5) earlier this morning...

Not so on the East Coast...

In Cali, *everything* is built to be earthquake-resistant. Back East, serious earthquakes are almost non-existant, so *nobody* was prepared yesterday, and the possibility of structural damage was *much* greater, because *nothing* was designed with the thought of having to withstand an earthquake!

Just due to the *rarity*, the East Coast quake was big news, *plus* the fact that it was felt over such a wide area!

I just do my best to get out of a building and into open space if it lasts.

My wife and I once left the master bedroom area and looked at the pool below our home to see the water slosh over the sides.

Some years before a friend was sleeping in a guest room and an earthquake hit. He came out from his nap groggy say, "did you feel the quake" then saw me entering from the back patio. I explained someone had to live to tell "them" where to dig.

:)

The earthquake does not kill. It is the prideful Tower of Babel structures coming down that are lethal.

I do not blame nor denigrate persons who do not believe in global stabilization, ending Continental Drift and especially the mid Atlantic ridge expansion. It is a free country.

Those who are concerned are invited to PM me regarding donations.

We just need to choose and support by private donations. Those government folk are selfishly building Arks for themselves. I saw it in a movie. So our efforts are private efforts by private donations. PM interests.
