Has anyone been a patient of Dr. Arnkoff and had this procedure? I would sure like to chat with one of his patients or someone who has experience with his work.

This is somthing I really want too get done asap,I just want too make sure I see a good Dr that knows what he's doing,if anyone else has any other kind of info on Dr arnkoff please share, and I hope this helps someone out there that might have any questions :)

I have no direct experience with Dr. Arnkoff. However, I am rather picky regarding physicians/surgeons, and I have diligently researched the phyicians/surgeons who I allow to use scalpels on me. Before my previous posting, I did an Internet search for Dr. Arnkoff, which is how I came up with the physician/surgeon who I guess may be the present practicing urologist's dad. The older Dr. Arnkoff apparently did his residency at Michael Reese Hospital, now defunct, where I got my colectomy in 1986.

I found no "warning flags" regarding Dr. Arnkoff (both the elder and the younger).

We really need MtE firmly entrenched and validated in the DSM-V.

I still get a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach when I recall what I had to do, 25 years ago, to get a safe orchiectomy. And I understand why people without the biology background I had have needed to resort to self-care because not everyone might survive the stress of what I did to be sufficiently persuasive.

If perseveration is of mental malfunction, autism-based perseverance may be of optimal mental function, for all I can tell. I had to be ready to "do it myself" with every detail firmly within my grasp to finally be persuasive in getting the "radical vasectomy." I decry having to as-though tell lies in order to actually tell truth.

One way to get information is to check with the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs:

No "Open Formal Complaints" and "No Disciplinary Actions" -- It may not get better than that!

the good doctor told me he is working on a new website

one of his staff is doing it for him..so you cant expect a professional job like dr fara in atlanta

i put a scenario in front of dr arnkoff to judge what his requirements are

I told him i had a wife that wanted me castrated because she no longer wanted sex...he wanted to know the age of the couple ..in their 50s...he said if the man was willing to be castrated for his wife and they both want him castrated...he would do the procedure

Sounds like he is open minded but the decision for MTE's would be on a case-by-case basis.

I really do hope he is a resource, but I wouldn't call going to him a slam-dunk.

I was going to ask if anyone has had Dr Arnkoff do their orchiectomy but I see this is an on going question. I spoke with Dr Arnkoff on the phone. He called me from California within an hour of my asking for info on his web page. Like one comment noted, he did sound a bit rushed and vague when I requested more details. He did stay he has done this operation for 35 years and has never had a complication or a complaint about the results. When I asked him which address (he is listed a two locations) he said he would text me the address and I should call him back to give my health history and set up appointment. His price and location are within my range but it seems as many as he has done someone would be a member of eunuch archive and could tell us more. As much as I want this to happen I hate to go in blind.

For what it's worth, Dr. Reed was the same with me on the telephone, when trying to arrange my orchi. He runs his office very lean, with only one other permanent employee. I suspect these doctors are supplementing their retirement income by continuing to practice and performing these specialty tasks for our niche markets.

Thanks Caith, After I read your post, I started thinking about it and I believe you are correct in your assumption. Based on reading about him online, like a few of you did, and knowing he schedules this operation only on weekends ( he said they are becoming so popular he may have to start doing them during the week) it may very well be he is doing them for the money. I would guess he is nearing retirement and needs the extra cash. Plus I can imagine no insurance would be involved so he would receive his total fee. We all could use some extra cash I suppose. Anyway, even if this is his reason, if he does the operation well and clients are happy what does it matter. I may set up an appointment soon. :)

I checked with Dr. Arnkoff, and he does not do glansectomy only orchiectomy. Why don't we who want one all question Dr. A about getting a glansectomy and he may start doing those also. Sounds resonable that he is building a retirement job. Oh, don't all surgeons operate for money? Well at least they want to get paid.

Well, I decided to change from CCRS in Atlanta to Dr Arnkoff. He is cheaper and just 'as well' or 'more so'

qualified for this physical placement of this type of surgery. (He is a surgical urologist.) I have recently

found out several of my neighbors have had contact with him for other surgeries and Dr A is quite

competent. All in all, he is more in my price range ($2K vs $5k), in the local area from my home, and may be

more qualified for this type of surgery. I have an appointment in a few months with him, how shall we say it

a christmas present to myself.
