I have ben diabetic for over 10 yrs now and for over 4 yrs i have been on cyproterone my blood sugar levels are on an even keel i am insulin dependant and have no sex drive so i would say givecyproterone a try

I am diabetic. Type 2.

I have been for 5 years.

I take NO meds.

NONE.

Never have.

My last A1C was 5.3

Carbs raise blood sugar. Period.

I don't give a damn what CDE's and doctors say.

Don't eat carbs, or in excess, that is.

Period.

Your main diet should be fresh meat, seafood, eggs, real cheese, above-ground fresh produce and not fruit, no roots, and NO GRAINS. No processed crap. No fast food.

Follow this plan, and you WILL lose weight.

I am 5'8". I weight 150 lbs. I was over 210.

I have a 31" waist now, I was pushing 39".

He's seen me eat. A LOT.

Processed food is full of sugar. Fat is NOT the enemy - carbs are.

You MUST have fat to function. High protein will NOT harm you in any way.

Think of this - if you take control, your Dr. loses money.

The radical low-carb plan will work. I am living proof of it.

Several months after I started Depo, I was diagnosed

Diabetic. The doc said it shuts down the insulin pumps in the pancreas.

It is highly unlikely that Depo is causing your insulin manufacture and secretion to stop – I’ve found nothing in the medical literature which supports this. There IS a correlation between low testosterone and diabetes, notably Type II. Which one is causative has not been determined in published literature (that I have found). It is generally assumed that testosterone deficiency is causative – but no evidence shows that.

I have been diagnosed as Type II, have no testes, use HRT, but sometimes don’t for awhile (I get arthritic joint pain from a lack, so I start again). For the most part, mine is controlled through diet. I am deficient in exercise, and high in fatty foods, so LDL is high (127 two weeks ago), but drops when I watch out for fats. OTOH my A1C seldom goes above 5.8, with or without T.

If you are taking insulin supplements, then your diet/exercise probably needs to change. See Paolo’s post above on how he controls a high level diabetes without supplemental insulin. Your body on its own can shut down insulin production or at least slow it, regardless of testosterone or Depo. Look for other causes, too.

Thanks for taking time to answer this thread. I have often doubted the doctor's opinion. Depo is given, or was, to sex offenders. If the medical community felt there would be the onset of diabetes, then it would never have been allowed.

My A1C hit 6.4 this last check but has been around 6.0 I diet and exercise and am not on insulin. My arthritic pain is now in the knee and I have no explanation for that.

Fortunately, I am producing insulin, just insensitive to it.

I, too, have researched the medical literature and find no evidence of Depo having anything to do with Diabetes. I wonder think mine was simply overweight and stopping my exercise.

I agree with Kristoff that diet and exercise has a lot to do with whether or not a castrate will develop Type II diabetes. It was one of the the first things that my GP looked for after I was castrated. She was surprised that I'm in such good health but I maintain a healthy diet, which is almost all vegan, and exercise daily. My weight is just about the optimum recommended level for someone my age and stature.

Thanks for the welcome wishes. I was wanting to return to chem castration and that's why I returned. After the diagnoses, I simply left the archive but now am back. I just wish I could get the right chem to do it.

I think my doctor was wrong about the depo associated with Diabetes. That is a growing epidemic in the USA. I maintain a great diet and exercise 8 to 10 miles a day on my bike.

Any suggestions or just return to Depo?
