So I got my card statement in the mail yesterday. Turns out they wanted another $13 for interest after I had paid off the account. That probably brings it up to about 50% annual rate. I paid $20 and said that I never want to come back again. I can hardly wait till next month to see what interest they charge on a closed account with a small positive balance.
dumb,
you will get a charge for the late fee and the interest.
pay the $13 and be done with it. It's cheaper than not doing anything.
I know you want to make this grand and glorious statement about their credit card but they don't care. You could prance naked and fling poo in their president's office and they still wouldn't care...
Pay the $13 bucks and never speak to them again. They will wither and die like weeds (in your mind of course, nowhere else)...

In your dreams, Dave. As I stated, slipped them a $20. And I made it clear that it was nothing personal to the two people I have dealt with in the last week. A year ago they were all full of piss and vinegar trying to recruit everybody for more. Now it seems it is business as usual and they are kind of subdued about people quitting. I know several who have closed accounts at this bank.
We all know that there is no big name bank that is going to collapse because of individuals quitting. Still, when others here say the same thing, you know it is systemic which leads to the option of taking your business elsewhere.
The great thing about the forum is you can run things like this by people not only for confirmation, but also for suggestions. Moi's suggestion of one bank is a great example of that.
As they say, nothing posted, nothing gained.

Credit is a fools game, except for a home mortgage.
Save and buy that car with cash.
Pay credit card to make it a virtual debit card without yielding main account security.
I send my VISA a few months of feeding money and pay again as it dwindles. Better then owing.
No one's interest rates are such that over paying VISA, utilities, is not worth it.
Moi
waiting for 8% savings interest rates, maybe 6.
